When This Morning’s resident vet Dr Scott Miller got into trouble while recording a feature at the dog show, it’s evident that the Crufts judges take their job very seriously.
The annual event, which is taking place this weekend in Birmingham, has drawn hundreds of canines fighting for the world-class title of Crufts Best in Show.
The NEC is hosting the world’s largest dog show, and Doctor Scott spoke with some of the participants and their owners.
He characterised the event as a “great place to be” while checking over the newest must-have dog treats and gadgets.
He did, however, get into some difficulty after wandering onto the green when a competition was being judged.
‘Oh, oh, we’re in a bit of trouble now,’ he muttered to one of the owners as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield looked on from the studio.
‘We are at Crufts after all…oh no we are getting into a bit of trouble,’ Dr Scott added.
He was then heard apologising.
Later, while describing what had happened, Doctor Scott admitted that he could have been more cautious, but Holly and Phil believed the judge appeared prickly.
‘If you don’t walk on the green like me you will have a wonderful time,’ Dr Scott said.
But Phil then added: ‘Oh is what it is was- you were walking on the green. Oh he [a judge] was the grumpy bloke then.’
Phil labelled Doctor Scott ‘grumpy’ when he joked that he feared he was going to be arrested.
Holly, on the other hand, urged the vet to ‘behave’ and avoid going on the wrong side of the green.
‘If only everyone loved you at Crufts like those dogs,’ she joked.
Earlier in the episode, Dr. Scott had some further difficulties when several of the dogs refused to play ball and showed little interest in performing for the cameras.
Some dogs played along, while others tried to flee, and other dogs refused to test any of the devices and instead tried to wrestle away from their owners.
Holly also brought her dog Bailey into the studio for the event, but her beloved Golden Retriever appeared more interested in relaxing, as she was caught dozing on the couch at times.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
