Lee Riley of Gogglebox risked the wrath of his friend and co-star Jenny Newby by publishing an old photo of her.
The couple, who have known one other for 30 years, met when he became a client at her tavern and have been “best friends ever since.”
They started the Channel 4 series in 2014 and have continued to amuse fans ever since.
Although they are typically eager to mock one other in front of the cameras, Lee, 55, could be in trouble after posting a potentially embarrassing snapshot of his old friend on their shared Instagram profile, which has nearly 870,000 followers.
He posted a photo of Jenny, 67, with a perm and added, “She is going to be upset with me.” Jenny with the ’80s perm.
Lee may have expected some snarky comments from their admirers about Jenny’s once-stylish hairstyle, but many others rallied to her defence.
‘Ohhh sexy lady,’ user Pamela commented on the Instagram post.
‘Looking fabulous,’ Patricia shared.
‘She looks amazing gorgeous lady,’ Lynne added.
As Sally explained: ‘She looks great! We all went through this stage; it was the look of the moment.’
Some others said it was ‘time for this hairstyle to come back’ too.
Jenny eventually got her revenge, sharing a photo of Lee as a schoolboy for his birthday.

‘Told you I’d get you back. A big happy birthday to you lee have a fantastic day filming with me,’ she shared on their page.
The two film their Gogglebox portions in Lee’s caravan in Hull, with Jenny moving in during the epidemic to continue filming for the show.
She subsequently went back in with her husband Ray, whilst Lee now lives with Steve, his companion of nearly three decades.
Although Jenny reportedly stated that she was a ‘huge admirer’ of Gogglebox ‘straight from the beginning,’ Lee admitted that he first turned down the request to appear but was later persuaded by a friend.
Gogglebox airs Fridays at 9pm on Channel 4.
