Love Island watchers have been left in stitches after the girls’ perplexity about a ‘big word’: ‘territorial,’ and one of the males’ utter ignorance of who Hugh Jackman is.
The reality dating show has provided us with several moments like this, many of which have come from 2018 participant Hayley Hughes.
The model certainly had her moments, from struggling for days over how to pronounce Eyal Booker’s name (despite being coupled up with him at the time) to not knowing what an earlobe is, confusion over whether Liverpool is a country, what’superficial’ means, and Brexit giving us fewer trees (which was later proven to be false).
And now we have one of the first from this season of Love Island, when neither Jess Harding nor Molly Marsh knew what the term “territorial” meant.
Bombshell Whitney Adebayo attempted to express it by using the identical term.
‘The girls are territorial,’ Whitney began.
Jess replied: ‘What does that mean? I’m not good with big words.’
‘Me neither,’ Molly agreed.
Whitney went on to explain, or try to: ‘Um… I would say Ella [Thomas] for example is very territorial over Tyrique [Hyde].’
‘Big words? Territorial? Oof, the British school system…’ one viewer wrote.
Another penned: ‘LMAOOOOO i’m not good with big words had killed me !!!!’
Someone else wrote: ‘Why are these villa people surprised by big words.’

‘So it makes you want to think, hm, you don’t want to get in that, because it’s long.’
Later in the show, spectators were once again impressed by an islander who had no idea what was going on.
When someone likened the new bombshell to Hugh Jackman, Mitchel Taylor was perplexed.
‘Who the f**k’s that?’ he asked.
Wolverine fans weren’t happy, with one writing: ‘What do you mean “Who’s Hugh Jackman???”‘
‘Mitchel did NOT just ask who Hugh Jackman is,’ another wrote.
‘Voting off Mitchel because he doesn’t know who Hugh Jackman is,’ someone else said.
Love Island continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV2.
