Ben Shephard has unveiled his ‘Harry Potter scar,’ which he got after a night celebrating Harry Kane breaking Wayne Rooney’s record for England’s all-time leading scorer.
However, some may have gone too far in their joy… included Ben, who displayed the results on Good Morning Britain on Friday.
‘There’s a reason, Kate Garraway, why I have a mark on my forehead this morning,’ he continued, as Kate pointed it out, accidently probing it with her pen.
‘It’s all gone very Harry Potter,’ she remarked.
‘I went to meet some friends yesterday evening, and I went to have a drink with them,’ Ben said.
‘Because the game had begun, I was watching it on catch-up as I left them to walk home.
‘So I’m watching on my phone, walking along the road, totally engrossed, and I did a proper Kate Garraway – I walked head first into a lamp post.
‘Literally. Smash into a lamp post, phone went flying as a bus went past and all these kids were going “Wahey!”‘
‘I was actually mortified!’
He added: ‘It was one of those moments, you know you watch those viral TikToks and things of people watching on their phones, falling into ponds, I properly clattered this lamp post.’
He said he didn’t become dizzy, but he was ’embarrassed’.
Kate was inspired by Ben’s story to share her own amusing ‘calamity’ experience.
She explained: ‘I walked in there one day, carrying one or two bags, I tend to, rollers in, and I walked straight in to the bar of the staircase.
‘It was so painful! I collapsed on the floor!’
Explaining how ’embarrassed’ she felt at being helped up like an ‘older person’, Kate added: ‘As I disappeared out of sight, they were all just clapping, having been so concerned.
‘There is a moment, where even if you know somebody is in distress, you’re just calm, laugh, stop yourself laughing at the calamity of it.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
