Anna Shaffer has become known to The Witcher fans as Triss Merigold, an ally of Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) and fellow sorcerer alongside Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra) for the previous four years.
Viewers are anxiously anticipating Season 4 of the Netflix programme, which will feature Liam Hemsworth as the eponymous monster hunter.
Meanwhile, they may be perplexed to learn that they may have first seen Anna on screen more than a decade earlier in another fantasy genre – none other than the Harry Potter films.
If you’re presently scratching your head trying to figure out who the woman starred in the flicks, don’t be too harsh on yourself – we’ve rewatched the films numerous times and she was always unrecognisable to us… until now.
To be honest, although Triss in The Witcher had long flowing red hair, Anna’s Harry Potter character has dark brown hair, which made her difficult to detect at first look.
But now we can’t believe we missed the fact that Anna, 31, played Romilda Vane in The Half-Blood Prince, which was released in 2009.
Book
Readers and film buffs will recall Romilda’s importance to the storyline of the sixth story in the series.
After the wizarding world eventually admitted that Lord Voldemort had returned, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) was redeemed after being chastised by the press and the Ministry of Magic for making a claim that they claimed was a falsehood (but was in reality accurate).
Romilda, now hailed as the ‘Chosen One,’ sets her eyes on Harry as a romantic conquest, even sending him a love potion in the hopes that he will fall in love with her.
When Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) unintentionally eats the love potion instead, a chain of events occurs that forces Harry to rescue his best friend’s life when Ron is poisoned.
In addition to Harry Potter and The Witcher, Anna played Ruby Button in Hollyoaks from 2011 to 2014, and again from 2017 to 2018.
Her other film and television credits include I Am Vengeance and Glue, Class, and Fearless.
The Witcher is available to watch on Netflix.
