Claudia Winkleman said that “there is no such thing as too orange” as she revealed the wild manoeuvres she’s taken to keep and then remove her tan.
The Strictly Come Dancing and The Traitors presenter, 51, is widely known for her black long fringe, false tan, and heavy eyeliner, but she’s gone to considerable efforts to achieve a glow throughout the years.
Claudia shared all about her long-time passion of a fake tan.
‘There is no such thing as too orange,’ she said.
‘When I was a university, I got rid of the bed and hired a sunbed instead – it was super cosy, and I was fluorescent!
‘I love being orange but to scrub it off I use table salt and a scourer – I have asked my husband to do it but it’s not good for foreplay.’
She added while appearing on the upcoming episode of The Graham Norton Show: ‘And, as I don’t have mirrors in my house, I have no idea what I look like!’
Claudia also revealed two household products she used to get her colour last year: Bisto gravy and dirt and old tea bags.
She claims the strange beauty hack came about during her undergraduate days when money was tight and she had to adapt.
‘Everything was reused, and I mean everything,’ she admitted in an interview on Radio Four’s Women’s Hour.
She did, however, claim that the habit drove her husband Kris Thykier, to whom she has been married since 2000, ‘crazy’ after she left teabags in the washbasin afterwards.
Last year she also reflected on her sunbed practice and said it was ‘so unhealthy when I think back now’.
‘I never get on the sunbed now. My body no longer recognises the actual sun,’ she added.
However, there was one lesson she hadn’t fully learned, as she admitted to sleeping with her make-up on.
‘I’ve never once taken my make-up off before I go to bed,’ she said.
The Traitors launches on Wednesday January 3 at 9pm on BBC One. The Graham Norton New Year’s Eve Show airs on Sunday December 31 at 10.25pm on BBC One.
