Ruth Langsford made a snarky remark about the rumoured conflict between herself and Coleen Nolan.
The Loose Women panel is claimed to be ‘feuding’ semi-regularly, with practically every regular star being alleged to loathe each other at some time.
Last year, there were claims that the ITV daytime show’s hosts, who included Ruth as well as Judi Love and Stacey Solomon, were refusing to work with Coleen.
Coleen’s agent had previously labelled fellow Loose Women actress Nadia Sawalha a ‘nasty witch’ on Twitter.
Previously, reports of rifts and feuds prompted Ruth to express her displeasure, claiming that’somehow people just love to put women against women.’
Now, on Tuesday’s live installment of the talk show, the host has made a clear reference to the dispute reports.
Coleen questioned aloud during the panel discussion about blind dates if she would trust the other ladies on the programme to select a blind date for her – and concluded she would.
‘I don’t know we might be feuding at the time,’ Ruth quipped with her eyebrow raised.
As the panel and audience descended into laughter, she added: ‘If we’re feuding it would be a really horrible [choice of a blind date].’
Coleen insisted on trusting Ruth to find her a suitable match, prompting an astounded Ruth to pretend to write down her statements to verify she uttered them, adding, ‘Watch this space.’
Ruth told fellow talk show host Lorraine Kelly in 2022 that the Loose Women group had nothing but love and respect for each other, dismissing rumours of a schism.
‘‘We have some heated discussions,’ she told Lorraine, ‘but we don’t fall out.’
‘Somehow people just love to pit women against women, don’t they? We do disagree about things, but then five minutes later we laugh and talk about something else.’
She continued: ‘We’re such a diverse group of women, different age groups, different views and different opinions on things. So many times I go on that show, I think one thing and by the end of the discussion I’ve changed my mind.’
A rep also said at the time that reports of the hosts not wanting to present with Coleen are ‘untrue’, adding: ‘Panellists are chosen for each show by the Loose Women Editor and senior production team, not the panellists themselves.’
It hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Loose Women lately however, as Carol McGiffin took a break from the show due to what she called her ‘unjust’ contract.
She added that she’s been ‘quite upset about it’, and said it was a decision she was ‘forced to make’.
‘No one in their right mind would have signed that contract,’ she continued. ‘And I can’t see a way back from it.’
Her co-stars, on the other hand, have come out in support of Carol, with Denise Welch confessing she was ‘gutted’.
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV
