Olly Murs has stated that he would be “honoured” to perform during King Charles III’s coronation in May.
The 38-year-old singer also claimed that if he is chosen to play at the event, he has two songs in mind.
During a visit on Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, the former X Factor judge was asked about singing at the royal bash, and Olly couldn’t stop smiling.
‘Are you going to perform at the King’s coronation,’ Susanna Reid said of the Dear Darlin’ hitmaker. ‘I’m here if needed.’ he said.
‘I’m on tour, the dates work, so if the royals need me, I’ll be there,’ Olly said. It would be incredible because many performers would be honoured to be singing.’
What songs would he sing?
‘I’d love to see the royals [dancing to] Dance With Me Tonight, that’d be lovely,’ the star said with a grin, adding: ‘Bit of Troublemaker.’
Susanna then joked: ‘There’s some songs you might wanna avoid,’ prompting Olly to burst into giggles.
The coronation of King Charles III will take place on May 6, and it will be the first event of its sort since 1953, when Charles’ mother, Queen Elizabeth II, was crowned.
The King ascended to the throne on September 8, 2022, following the death of his mother, although a complete ceremony is often staged a substantial period later as a token of respect to the late queen.
In addition to the crowning day, Buckingham Palace has scheduled a special Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle on Sunday, May 7, which will be broadcast on the BBC.
At his coronation, King Charles III commissioned 12 new pieces of music, including one by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
A musical and light spectacle are also scheduled for the day of the coronation, although Adele and Ed Sheeran have allegedly declined offers to perform.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
