The Love Island 2023 summer season finale isn’t far away… The last episode’s date was supposedly disclosed during a live TV mistake.
On Sunday night’s edition of Love Island: Aftersun, the sister show to the main ITV2 show, host Maya Jama and her panel discussed the week’s events in the villa.
Former Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson stated that he appreciated the fact that bombshell Ella Barnes was already ruffling feathers, having snatched Mitchel Taylor away from Casa Amor islander Abi Moores after only a few days.
As Sam remarked how much fun he was having watching Ella on his TV screen, he also appeared to reveal how much longer all of the candidates have before returning to the UK.
‘Ella B’s a perfect bombshell for two and a half weeks to go,’ he said, referring the mayhem that Ella’s arrival has already caused by turning Mitchel’s head.
‘She’s exactly what I want in a viewer,’ he added.
Did we just hear you say ‘two and a half weeks to go’, Sam?
According to reports, ITV has yet to finalise the timetable for the remaining episodes of Love Island.
To comparison, we may look at the prior series of the show.
The 2023 summer season included 49 episodes and ended on Monday, March 13 of current year.
In comparison, the 2022 summer series had 49 episodes and finished on Monday August 1 that year, whilst the 2021 series had the same amount of episodes and ended on Monday August 23 that year.
Tonight’s episode of Love Island will be the 37th episode of the series, eliminating the Saturday night Unseen Bits episodes.
So, if we’re getting 49 episodes this summer, episode 49 should be on Monday, July 31 – which makes sense for a finale date, given that it’s a Monday and just two weeks away.
We’ll have to wait for an official announcement!
Love Island returns tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
