While Janice Dickinson thrilled at the chance to participate in I’m A Celebrity… South Africa, she wasn’t quite satisfied with the experience.
the first I’m A Star… Take Me Away From Here! Contestant is coming back for a unique season held in the South African wilderness along with other past stars.
Even though the US celebrity stated it was a “immediate yes” when asked to participate on the programme, everything wasn’t peaches and cream.
Janice notoriously had a rat bite during her former I’m A Celeb stay, and she still reportedly has nightmares about it. This time, she was afraid that birds might eat her eyeballs out as she slept.
Janice contrasted the experience to Australia and claimed it was “much more pleasant” in South Africa.
‘The campmates were much more pleasant, the surroundings, there didn’t seem to be as many rodents coming into the campsite as there was in Australia.’
But where there weren’t rodents, there were birds, and one of her biggest new experiences was ‘getting through the night.’
‘Some birds were landing by my cot, I think they were vultures. Huge black birds, going’ – here she did a fairly impressive imitation of a squawk – ‘right by my ear.
‘I was scared they were going to peck my eyes out or something. I was sleeping under my sleeping bag with the zipper all the way up to my head, feeling that something’s going to crawl into my bed at night. It’s quite scary.’
In another conversation, Janice made light of the fact that losing her luxury item—a vivid lipstick shade—had left her feeling “depressed.”
‘I brought in a bright shade of lipstick and I was prepared to wear that every morning. I wear bright lipstick and that’s who I am. They took my lipstick away so I felt depressed.’
What the viewers can anticipate from the new series, according to Janice, is “lots of laughter and lots of tears,” comparable to a “soap opera.”
Other celebrities hoping to once again have a chance at winning the top slot on the ITV reality programme include Shaun Ryder, Carol Vorderman, and Helen Flanagan.
The primary cast includes Fatima Whitbread, Paul Burrell, Phil Tufnell, Amir Khan, and Jordan Banjo. However, ITV has stated that more actors will make unexpected appearances during the season.
I’m A Celebrity…South Africa starts Monday at 9pm and airs all week on ITV1 and ITVX
