I’m A Celebrity South Africa fans were stunned to learn candidate Carol Vorderman’s true age.
The former Countdown host spent four days in Kruger National Park for the all-stars series and has already stunned fans with her young appearance.
Carol is returning to the endurance programme for the first time in eight years, having competed in the 16th edition of the original I’m A Celebrity series in 2015.
Along with musician Shaun Ryder, athlete Fatima Whitbread, and nutritionist Gillian McKeith, she is one of several returning stars who have turned 60.
Many viewers were surprised to learn that Carol, who was born on Christmas Eve in 1960, was one of the older contestants at the age of 62.
‘How is Carol Vorderman 62? She looks great!’ one viewer posted onto Twitter as Carol attempted to win the first set of meal stars for camp.
As she competed to secure food for her fellow celebrities, a second viewer posted: ‘How good is Carol looking! 62 years old, looking younger and so full of energy.’
Another observer noted that the TV star was ‘ageing like good wine’ as she reacquainted herself with camp life after nearly a decade away.
Carol rose to prominence in the 1980s as a co-presenter and maths expert on the Channel 4 quiz programme Countdown.
She departed the programme after 26 years in 2008, and was succeeded by Rachel Riley, who went on to host Have I Got News for You, Lorraine, and The Pride of Britain awards.
So far, people have accused several cases of being manipulated in the current season, which was shot in South Africa last year.
During a trial in which Coronation Street actor Andy Whyment and singer Myleene Klass competed, fans believed Myleene had easier questions.
‘Is someone hooked up to a mic to give Myleene all of these answers she doesn’t know?’ one person asked on Twitter during the broadcast.
I’m A Celebrity South Africa is not filmed or broadcast live like the original series, some viewers believe the outcome is predetermined.
