A new comedy on Netflix has had viewers ‘hyperventilating’ after laughing too hard, earning a flawless rating.
The second season of SyFy’s original Resident Alien has aired on the streaming service and presently has a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The show, which also airs on Peacock, is based on the comic book of the same name and follows an extraterrestrial that crashes into a tiny community in Colorado.
Unfortunately for the alien’s new friends, he is on a covert mission to murder everyone on Earth and must blend in by claiming to be a doctor.
Alan Tudyk, who played Harry in Moana, leads the ensemble, which also includes Linda Hamilton, Nathan Fillion, Michael Cassidy, Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, and Alice Wetterlund.
It’s safe to say that fans have loved the comedy, with many giving it high scores on the review site.
Genevieve K shared: ‘I laughed so hard I started hyperventilating. I love the cast, the acting is fantastic never pulled me out, and Alan T is non stop hilarity. I’d watch him paint a house though. Like a leaf on the wind.’
Sixpac F posted: ‘One of the very few shows to ever get comedy sci-fi right.’
Byron P agreed: ‘This show just keeps getting better! I’m a skeptic, and there have been so many shows that were excellent in their freshman year and then died in season two. NOT so with this one.
‘It continues to be unique, clever, funny as hell – I hope it continues for many seasons to come.’
The second season has recently landed on Netflix and is currently listed in the top 10 shows at the moment.
Luckily for those who blitzed through those episodes, the third season is currently airing on Peacock, if you need a fresh dose of Harry and co.
Alan has received rave reviews for his stint in the comedy, which is even more exceptional when you factor in the incredible prosthetics – and the fact that he ‘can’t really see’ through them.
He previously opened up about his efforts to transform into Harry’s alien form, explaining that this process normally takes ‘about two hours’.
‘It’s a mask that they put on my head that is one use, a single use mask,’ he told Too Fab.
‘But it’s easy to maneuver and it’s easy to move with my face, which that’s great. I can’t really see out of the eyes which is a challenge.
‘The hands are tough, and the teeth have their own challenge because it’s a little harder to form words that way.’
The official synopsis for season three reads: ‘In season three, Harry is vowing to work with General McCallister (Linda Hamilton) to rid the Earth of the Grey aliens – a task made more difficult when he discovers that the Grey Hybrid Joseph (Enver Gjokaj) has taken a job in town as the new Deputy.
‘Joseph isn’t Harry’s only obstacle – Harry struggles to balance business and his personal life when he falls in love for the first time.
‘Meanwhile, Asta (Sara Tomko) and D’arcy (Alice Wetterlund) move in together and struggle to discover their purpose in the world, Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) and Deputy Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) continue their quest to find out who killed the Alien Tracker, and Ben (Levi Fiehler) and Kate (Meredith Garretson) are forced to deal with the subconscious repercussions of their alien abductions.’
It sounds simple…
