Amy Dowden has expressed her appreciation to her Strictly Come Dancing co-stars, who’rescued’ her after a cancer diagnosis in 2023.
Following months of chemotherapy and radiation treatment, the 33-year-old dancer revealed last week that there was ‘no trace of sickness’.
Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer and subsequently ‘another sort of cancer’ in May 2023, with the Strictly professional revealing her treatment plan during the previous year.
She has reflected on her cancer battle over the previous year after receiving ‘the best news ever’ and reaching her ‘biggest accomplishment yet’.
Speaking on The One Show, she instantly praised her Strictly companions Dianne Buswell, Graziano Di Prima, Oti Mabuse, and Carlos Gu for their assistance with the show Dare to Dance, in which she teaches members of the public a dance to surprise their friends and family.
‘They came to the rescue because I did get diagnosed with breast cancer whilst we started [work for] the series,’ she told hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas.
Amy then gave more details about the exact nature of the positive news she’s been given: ‘There is no evidence of disease. I can’t get the all clear for about five years, but [no evidence of disease were] words I dreamed of.’
On social media, Trixydoes60 commented, ‘Amy you’re an inspiration loved seeing you on the One Show tonight,’ while Samie_12 said: ‘Huge congratulations Amy! As a fellow breast cancer survivor, isn’t that the best 4 words to hear?! You did it!’

The dance diva then revealed her hopes to ensure that the second series, which was commissioned by BBC Wales, be taken up by BBC One.
Amy is scheduled and busy in 2024 since she has taken a position on Lorraine as part of the presenting team.
’It’s been a tough year but this is something I’m so excited about and can’t wait to get started,’ she told The Mirror.
Lorraine Kelly added: ‘We’re thrilled to have Amy join the Lorraine family. We always love it when Amy is on the show, and know our viewers do too, so we can’t wait to see more of her.
‘She’s had an incredibly tough year and overcome it with such grace, I’m so excited to welcome her to the show.’
On Friday, she shared her happy news with the world, celebrating on Instagram: ‘No evidence of disease! Words I dreamed of! My biggest accomplishment yet!
‘I won’t be getting the all-clear for 5 years especially with a hormone fed cancer. But it was all worth it. Words I never thought I’d hear at one point.
‘So grateful for all the care I received and continue to have. To my family and friends who supported me unconditionally and to you guys! Thank you!’
It marked a significant departure from the update she provided earlier in February, when she revealed she had been sent to the hospital with respiratory troubles – however, all was okay after some treatment and care.
‘So last week didn’t exactly go to plan! Feeling much better now and still taking it easy. But can’t thank the NHS and the care I received on respiratory unit enough!’
It’s unclear what prompted Amy’s temporary setback, but she praised her family for ‘dropping everything’ to be with her.
