Viewers on Netflix have discovered an unexpected link between a new thriller and a classic BBC drama.
The eight-part series Fool Me Once, based on the 2016 Harlan Coben novel of the same name, premiered on Netflix this week.
Maya Stern (Michelle Keegan) is struggling to come to terms with the violent death of her husband, Joe (Richard Armitage), in the plot.
However, when Maya installs a nanny-cam to keep a check on her little kid, she is surprised to find a guy she remembers in her home – her husband, whom she assumed was dead.
However, as viewers quickly discovered, the house utilised for the episode had already been shown on film.
‘Loving Fool Me Once on Netflix but aren’t they using Tommy Shelby’s house?’ Charlie Murphy posted on X after tuning in.

Soon after Netflix confirmed the theory.
‘They really thought they could fool us with Tommy Shelby’s house,’ it posted on Instagram, alongside a composite image of how the mansion was used in both shows.
While the series’ may be set over a century apart, the streaming service said both had used Arley Hall in Cheshire.
Although many people felt the proof verified their suspicions, others joked that they’d entirely missed the link.
‘Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice shame on Tommy Shelby,’ J Eastlake posted.
However, as another user pointed out, ‘I thought Tommy had blown it up,’ referring to the series’ season 6 conclusion in which Tommy (played by Cillian Murphy) blew up his house to make way for new houses for the residents of Birmingham.
Bridge Roberts, Arley’s general manager, informed Creative England’s Filming in England website that filming for Fool Me Once took place in a variety of locations at Arley from April to July last year, including the formal gardens, the Hall (interior and exterior), and the grounds and roads.
People have been racing to watch all of the episodes since the show’s launch, with some even considering calling in sick to work in order to see more.
Others joked about doing an all-nighter to find out how it ended.
Fool Me Once is streaming on Netflix, while Peaky Blinders is available on the same platform as well as BBC iPlayer.
