Trisha Goddard is ‘cheering’ on Dancing On Ice’s Ria Hebden as she prepares to dance again in the dreaded skate-off.
The chat show legend, 64, knows exactly how the TV presenter, 39, is currently feeling as Trisha was also a former contestant on the hit annual series.
However, her love for skating remains strong two years later as she has kept up to date with everything and everyone involved in the ITV show since her debut.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, she said: ‘Ria Hebden who is skating with Lukasz, [Różycki] I’m cheering for her.
‘Last year Lady Leshurr, I was supporting and talking to her in the car while she was coming back from training, but Ria, I’m cheering for,’ she added.
The You Are What You Eat host was also partnered up with Lukasz during her stint in 2020, but unfortunately, the duo were the first couple eliminated.
Trisha described the training process as ‘intense’ and recalled the moment she took a tumble on the ice.
‘I knew it would be intense, she said. ‘I just wish somebody said to me, put your weight on the back of the blade.
‘I still do lessons, I only ever wanted to learn how to ice skate and I’ve kept ice skating. I’m working towards my first exam.’
She continued: ‘And because it’s a reality show, you cut corners. I was never going to out there and kill myself. I mean I fell at the first hurdle literally. I was 62, I was 15 years older than the next oldest person.
‘I went every day this week, and still do lessons and I just wanted to have fun.’
Ria impressed fans in her first week of the competition, scoring a respectable 24.5 points following her upbeat routine to Harry Styles’ Treat People With Kindness.
Chatting ahead of week two, Ria revealed a fear she had to overcome when she first started learning to skate after slipping on a wet floor years ago.
On what she was most scared of, Ria said: ‘For me, it’s skating forwards at speed just because I slipped on a wet floor years ago, headfirst on concrete and it was honestly like the most awful thing.
‘It’s really weird because even though it’s very physically tough and taxing, using all your muscles and you’re constantly focused because you need to, be aware and upright because you’re on the ice.’
Viewers will have to tune in on Sunday to see if Ria will make it through to next week’s highly-anticipated movie week.
