While watching I’m a Celebrity… You’d think the most terrifying component of Get Me Out of Here would be the Bushtucker Trials, but Charlene White has revealed it’s something altogether else.
The Loose Women star, who took part in the 2022 series, had to cope with something that happened to her on a daily basis, leaving her teary-eyed.
When dusk arrived, producers made certain that the campmates were in complete darkness.
‘Nothing hits you more than when everything goes black in the middle of the jungle,’ Charlene explained.
‘It was awful on the first night and that was part of me getting really upset.’
Charlene, 42, told The Sun that the jungle is ‘pitch black’ as soon as ‘the last person’s head hits the pillow.’
‘That was by far the scariest thing,’ she concluded.
Charlene, the first person kicked off the ITV program, also battled with having to live with one specific campmate – Matt Hancock.
Charlene was unable to share an RV with him due to the nature of her employment as a journalist.
‘I felt like being in such an intimate space with a very high profile Conservative MP would reflect badly on me as a journalist in the future,’ she told the Loose Women panel after her departure.
We won’t have to wait long for the next I’m a Celeb series, since an All Stars edition will debut later this month.
Carol Vorderman, Helen Flanagan, Janice Dickinson, Amir Khan, Paul Burrell, Fatima Whitbread, Jordan Banjo, Shaun Ryder, and Phil Tuffnel feature in the series’ premiere.
Although the show’s specifics have been kept under wraps, Carol, 62, has suggested that audiences are in for a treat.
She wrote on her Instagram: ‘We filmed late last year. I haven’t told a soul what happened, but I can tell you it was brutal.’
There may be some conflict on the programme, though, as Carol pointedly said on Lorraine: ‘Janice Dickinson, we’ll not talk about her. She’s bonkers, totally bonkers.’
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! launches later this month on ITV.
