On Wednesday, a Channel 4 news studio was evacuated, leaving Strictly Come Dancing star Krishnan Guru-Murthy ‘dancing alone’.
A fire alarm compelled the staff at Leed’s studio to evacuate the premises.
News presenter Cathy Newman took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share: ‘I’m afraid we’ve had to evacuate the Leeds @Channel4News studio because of a fire alarm.’
Alongside a picture of a fire engine outside the studios, she added: ‘My Co-presenter @krishgm is dancing solo right now…’
The Leeds studio team was scheduled to feed live contributions to the London studio’s 7 p.m. news broadcast, which would be hosted by Krishnan.
Cathy then shared an image of a videographer wearing a high-visibility ‘Fire Marshal’ jacket.
She wrote: ‘Cameraman Sam has inevitably been renamed Fireman Sam after he instructed us all to leave the building…’

She later responded to a now-deleted Tweet by Krishnan, joking: ‘I think they had you down as a fire marshal @krishgm!’
Krishnan, 53, was revealed as a contender on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, joining Amanda Abbington, Layton Williams, and Angela Rippon on the BBC competition.
Explaining why he had agreed to take part, he said: ‘You only live once. I’m here for the joy and the fun. I love my job. It’s very, very privileged: I go to amazing places and speak to amazing people, but it’s incredibly serious; it’s quite stressful.
‘So the idea of being able to have pure intravenous joy, alongside – because I’m going to be doing the news at the same time – is just irresistible.’
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in September.
