In the newest episode of the famous show, an Antiques Roadshow visitor was taken aback by the value of a family treasure.
During the Easter Sunday episode of the BBC programme, the visitor brought over a silk sampler that had been passed down to the females in her family.
This tradition dates back to 1780, but the owner and her family had no idea it was worth thousands of pounds.
The sculpture was done by an 11-year-old girl, and expert Wayne Colquhoun was impressed by the precise stitching and narrative.
‘I’ve never seen one as good as this,’ an impressed Wayne stated.
Wayne described the work, which includes an agricultural scene, a sailing scene, and an exotic location scene, as a “weaving piece of history and from an 11-year-old girl.”
He did, however, point out that she was probably assisted, especially as it was silk over wool, both tough materials to deal with.
‘This is amazing,’ he concluded.
The moment of truth then came for Wayne to reveal the monetary value.
‘We see good ones for £5,000 normally but I think this is so good with its potential American connection.
‘With its potential going to auction, I’d say it’s worth £10,000 to £15,000, it’s that good. I’ve never seen a picture weaved by an 11-year-old so good.’
The owner’s jaw dropped wide, visibly astonished, and she stated that it was all “hard to believe.”
The man accompanying her to the appraisal was similarly surprised.
Despite the potential earnings, the owner opted to loan the artwork to a public area rather than sell it.
She joked that she didn’t keep it at home because ‘we don’t get enough visitors!’
Another woman was left speechless when learning the worth of her ruby and diamond jewelry, which she ‘acquired from my mother from my great aunt,’ on the show.
For 37 years, her great-aunt worked as a chef and housekeeper for Prince Ernst August of Hanover.
Taking a look at the stunning item, jeweler Geoffrey Munn said: ‘This is a very typical gift from a royal personage, there’s no question at all.’
It was deemed to be worth between £7000-£8000. The astonished owner asked Geoffrey to repeat the number, so she could actually take it in.
Antiques Roadshow continues Sunday on BBC One.
