The Flash has pulled a surprise by including two Hollywood actors in the post-credit sequence.
The DC picture, which hits UK theatres on June 16, stars controversial actor Ezra Miller as the eponymous character.
The film, based on the comic book Flashpoint, has Barry Allen, or The Flash, utilise his ability to sprint at the speed of light to travel back in time and save his parents from death.
His actions, however, fracture into numerous timelines – and copies of himself – leaving Barry to clean up a massive mess when he returns to the future.
Ezra, who attended their first red carpet event after being embroiled in a spate of problems in the United States earlier this week, co-stars with Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck, who both reprise their roles as Batman.
But wait, there’s more… Please be advised that there are huge spoilers below.
The film contains a post-credit sequence, which is characteristic of the DC franchise, and this one was especially remarkable because George Clooney was reintroduced as Bruce Wayne. Yes, indeed.
In a minute-long scene, George’s Bruce exits Batman’s iconic Mercedes, causing a perplexed Barry Allen to question, ‘Who the f*** is this?’
‘You’re not Batman,’ Barry continues, with Wayne simply replying: ‘What’s wrong with you?’
George has previously been open about his unpopular portrayal of Batman, claiming in 2021 that he “f**ked up so bad.”
The actor is most known for his depiction of the Caped Crusader in the 1997 picture Batman and Robin, which did not go down well with fans.
‘I did one superhero movie and I f**ked it up so bad they won’t let me near the set,’ George told People during a screening for The Tender Bar.
He was also questioned why he wasn’t participating with The Flash at the time, and he stayed quite vague.
Not going into the details of whether he was even asked to reprise his role, he joked to Variety: ‘When you destroy a franchise the way I did…’
Everything makes clear now.
Of course, George’s surprising presence in The Flash wasn’t the film’s only unexpected cameo, as Nicolas Cage also appeared as Superman.
Nic has always been a fan of Superman, having been in Tim Burton’s failed Superman Lives over two decades ago.
In the full sequence, viewers witness his Superman battle a monster.
The action shocked fans dumbfounded.
‘George Clooney Batman,’ one wrote. ‘They went all out. Nic Cage Superman. Just wow.’
‘CGI Nic Cage Superman cameo is unreal,’ another said, while a third added: ‘Nic Cage is unironically my favourite cameo in The Flash but I know the General Audience is going to laugh their ass off not knowing the context.’
The Flash is out in UK cinemas on Friday, June 16.
