If there was ever a year when celebrities felt validated for their claims of extraterrestrial encounters and UFOs, it was 2023.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s random ski trial, all the TMI facts about Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s marriage, and Taylor Swift’s high-speed dating life have all occurred in the last 12 months. Nothing, however, has been more out of this world than aliens essentially being verified in the US Congress.
What’s more surreal is that it wasn’t a scene from an A-list action-packed film in which the torn protagonist attempts to save the planet from an alien invasion or else the human race would perish, but rather real life, which is certainly stranger than fiction.
Celebrities ranging from Miley Cyrus to Elvis Presley and Nick Jonas have been claiming us for years that they’ve interacted with aliens, and they were (maybe) proven correct this year.
When Goldie Hawn said an extraterrestrial touched her face, we all dropped to our knees (some in amusement, some in astonishment) and cackled when Cardi B and Offset argued about whether tiny green men truly exist.
Not to mention Britney Spears‘ admission in her book that she witnessed paranormal activity.
It truly has been an enlightening year.
However, no one’s encounter tops Goldie’s with the ‘finger of God.’
‘I went outside my door, and I sat on the little ledge, and I looked up at the dark sky. And I saw all these stars. And all I could think of was … “Are we the only planet in the whole wide universe that has life on it?”’ she said on the Time To Walk podcast.
She said she called out to any aliens listening, saying she knows ‘we’re not alone, and I would like to meet you one day. Four months later, she was settling down for a nap in a friend’s car and suddenly heard a ‘high frequency’ in her ear.
Out of nowhere, Goldie claims she then saw three ‘triangular-shaped heads’, silver in colour with a ‘tiny little nose,’ no ears and ‘a slash for a mouth.’
The aliens ‘were pointing at me … discussing me like I was a subject.’
The actress said she was unable to move, but that the aliens ‘touched me and it felt like the finger of God.’
‘It was the most benevolent, loving feeling. This was powerful. It was filled with light.’
It’s safe to say that was the most comprehensive and absurd tale of a celebrity extraterrestrial encounter ever told, and the entire world was waiting for it.
Rockman99 joked on Reddit: ‘Whew. My alien mask worked!!’ while theREALlackattack wondered: ‘Was this before or after Kurt Russell filmed The Thing?’ referring to her life partner’s iconic sci-fi movie role.
@Gilganjun1 was particularly cynical about Goldie’s recollection of events and wrote on X: ‘Story says she was napping in a car when it happened. Chances are it was all a dream.’
One guy, however, had no reservations about Goldie’s account.
Nick Pope, a career civil servant turned UFO investigator, has spent years researching the extraterrestrial.
‘I welcome the fact that celebrities now seem comfortable speaking out about their sightings and experiences,’ he said.
‘Some of these stories are truly amazing, and as creative types, celebrities can often describe their encounters in a vivid way that brings the events to life, in a way that most witnesses are unable to do.’
That is perhaps the greatest way to define Goldie’s tale.
‘I’d like to see celebrity UFO witnesses acting as champions for this subject, using their public profiles to advocate for the topic in the media, and to raise awareness, particularly with young people. Celebrities are often courted by political figures, and can have a lot of influence,’ he added.

During a public congressional hearing, retired intelligence officer David Charles Grusch claimed that the US government was concealing proof of ‘non-human intelligence.’ Celebrities reacted in droves.
Whoopi Goldberg said during a discussion on The View: ‘Well I knew! I don’t know why everyone else is so surprised. We’re not the only ones in the universe. We’re just not… Here’s the thing, there are more things in heaven and earth than we are aware of and we have to be aware because that is the nature of being an earthling.’
The Sister Act star added of an alien invasion: ‘It’s going to happen, it has happened and so far we’re alright. I’m not saying yay or nay.’
Britney’s story of an otherworldly encounter is hidden among all the other bombshells in her biography, but it’s a wonderful read.
In her biography The Woman In Me, she described a road trip to Arizona with a buddy when something unexpected happened. They were ‘beside’ themselves with ‘grief and loneliness’ as they drove across the desert in their convertible with the top down, both ‘heartbroken’ after break-ups.
Then, an ‘eerie feeling settled over [Britney]’, the star explained. ‘In this moment, something filled me: a profound beauty, otherworldly and humbling.’
‘Call it God, call it a higher power, or call it a paranormal experience. Whatever it was, it was real enough that we could experience it together,’ the Toxic hitmaker continued, using the experience as a metaphor for her needing to raise her voice, even when she was scared to be seen as ‘crazy.’
Meanwhile, Rylan Clark had ‘twinges’ after sighting a UFO flying across the sky.
However, not every celebrity agrees.
Cardi B shattered hopes when she revealed she doesn’t believe there’s other life in the great beyond, saying in October: ‘I really don’t believe that aliens are real, because it’s like, okay, so if aliens are real, and they’re smarter than us, right, why they just haven’t invaded us?
‘Aliens, if they smart, they know how humans are. Humans are despicable. They want to take over everything; they just want to have power over everything.’
Amid the congress hearings in the US, her then-husband Offset argued: ‘I think that aliens exist. I’ve been seeing UFOs. It’s live footage of them m***********s too now.’
Despite this, UFO specialist Pope believes that the tide is shifting, and celebrities may even assist ‘push MPs and peers to raise the matter in Parliament’ after witnessing the impact of the US hearings.
Whatever the reality is, 2023 was a tremendously fascinating year that demonstrated that, while celebrities have highly vivid imaginations, they may be spot on when it comes to aliens.
