Amy Dowden revealed that her husband joined her to her final checkup before Christmas.
Last month, the Strictly Come Dancing pro rang the hospital bell to indicate that her chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer had concluded.
Fans celebrated every time they saw her make special appearances on the BBC series, especially when she was allowed to engage in the grand finale group dance, as the dancer has continued to update her Instagram followers on her health.
In a recent Instagram Story post, the 33-year-old published a photo with her husband, fellow dancer Ben Jones.
In the snapshot, she disclosed that she was in the hospital for her final checkup before Christmas, before heading home to spend time with her loved ones.
‘Last apt before Christmas! Then we are getting into Christmas spirit and taking our lovely @artinmotion.dance teachers out! Rrrrrrready to spend Christmas with my loved ones,’ she wrote.
Amy and Ben launched Artinmotion, or the AIM Dance Academy, in the West Midlands in 2016.
Amy was wearing a festive Christmas sweater in the photo, with Ben sitting on a chair in the background.
In a second Instagram Story picture, she displayed an injection, which she playfully referred to as a ‘Early Xmas present.’
‘Cancer – the gift that keeps on giving,’ she quipped underneath the image.
Amy surprised Strictly fans throughout the country on Saturday night when she made a surprise cameo in the group number of the finals, before Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola were proclaimed the champions.
Writing on Instagram after the show, she said: ‘Strictly 2023 thank you! Congratulations to our fabulous winners and finalist but also to every member of the team! It’s truly a dream team!
‘My aim this year was to be able to dance in some way and after breaking my foot the plans had to change but as always the incredible team still made it happen .
‘Last night I got to be part of the opening number, thank you @jasongilkison . To have that adrenaline rush from performing in front of an audience, to be back with the gang made me feel like Amy again (the first time since my diagnosis).’
Amy expressed her gratitude to Strictly ‘for helping me through these past few months’, adding that it felt ‘bittersweet’ that this year’s series had ended, as it gave her ‘distraction and focus’.
‘My heart couldn’t be more full than it is for this show and everyone involved. So proud to be part of the magic! Thank you!’ she added.
In 2017, Amy and Ben became British Open Latin Dance Champions together.
They were married in 2022 in a beautiful wedding ceremony, with Amy later writing on Instagram: ‘It really was the most perfect day. We were surrounded by our favourite people and everything was how we imagined and more.’
