Amy Price, Katie Price’s mother, died during a lung transplant and had to be brought back to life by doctors.
The 71-year-old woman is the mother of model Katie, as well as Sophie and Dan. She has a deadly lung disease called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which makes it hard for her to breathe.
The mother and grandmother had a lung transplant in November. Her two children didn’t know about it because Amy didn’t want them to say goodbye.
She has now said that it was almost a goodbye because she had a heart attack and almost died.
‘The next day I went into cardiac arrest and they had to pump me to bring me back,’ she told her daughters on the Katie Price Show podcast – something she only learned herself later.
‘How many times did you die, Mum?’ Katie asked, asking if she remembered it.
Amy clarified it was ‘only the once,’ and while she can’t remember it, she was apparently ‘shouting out, “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe.”
‘That’s because I was filling up with blood and fluid. I was dreaming, thinking “I’ve got to survive until 5 O’Clock. I’m hot, I’m sweaty, I can’t breathe.”‘
She remembered thinking, in a muddled way, that two nurses wanted to kill her but would go home at 5 o’clock, so all she had to do was stay alive until then.
Amy said that she thought this was happening during her surgery, and she remembered thinking that if she did die, she would be okay with it.
‘I thought: You know, if I go … Sophie’s alright, Kate will sort herself out, Dan’s alright… it’s okay to go.’
‘I felt everything was falling in place, and I could just go.’
Katie then revealed excitedly: ‘And guess what – drumrolls – she didn’t go and she’s lived to tell the tale.’
She took a long time to get better, though, and OnlyFans model Katie said she was afraid to see her mother after the surgery.
‘You looked like a blown-up Wotsit,’ Katie declared, adding: ‘You looked like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Veruca, when she blows up,’ admitting it was terrifying to see.
Sophie agreed worriedly that Amy was ‘ever so swollen.’
Amy did get better, and she wrote a book called “The Last Word” about her life as the mother of Katie, who made headlines.
It also explores the ‘cycles of abuse that have been repeated through generations.’
Amy has been living with the disease that will kill her lungs since 2017.
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is a disease that makes the lungs scarred and makes it hard to breathe.
Katie has already said that her mum was told she had three to five years to live when she was ill.
