Maternity shoots, like gender reveal parties and baby showers, are a popular way for expecting parents to celebrate – and celebs are no exception.
Rihanna for her Vogue pregnancy cover to Beyoncé in THAT floral dream, a number of celebrities have bared their bumps for some glitzy maternity photos over the years.
Lauren Ludwig, the wife of Vikings actor Alexander Ludwig, went low-key with her maternity pictures, stripping down and shooting the side profile of her pregnant figure on polaroid film.
Alexander, 30, of The Hunger Games fame, chose to participate in the shoot in his own unique manner, making a pose similar to his co-star.
The actor bared all in an identical side profile shot, writing ’32 weeks’ at the bottom of the image, just like Lauren.
He cheekily captioned the post: ‘It’s been a long road- there’s times I don’t know how to deal with these emotions- so grateful to have my rock solid wife supporting me through these 32 weeks of pregnancy. Almost there.’
He concluded the message with ‘also, that’s my hand,’ referring to the placement of it, which appears to be, um, something else.
A number of his performing friends were quick to laugh at the pictures, with The Boys’ Toni Starr pointing out Alexander’s odd hand positioning in one of them.
‘Oh thank god it’s a hand! I thought you had something growing out of your tummy!’ he said with a laughing emoji.
After three previous pregnancy losses, the pair, who married in 2020, revealed last month that they are expecting their first child.
They revealed the news in a moving Instagram picture that showed Alexander lovingly caressing Lauren’s baby bump while their canine looked on.
‘It’s been a long journey, and we wanted to wait until things looked hopeful this time,’ he added. Thank you for all of your help.
‘We couldn’t be more grateful. And if you were wondering…yam is stoked.’
He disclosed that the baby is expected in May of this year, and he and his partner had a “long road” before discussing their experience with pregnancy loss.
He continued: ‘We suffered 3 losses before this one but each one of those losses taught us about ourselves and each other. To everyone out there who has suffered miscarriages before, there is light on the other side of your journey. You are not alone.’
