The latest Apprentice contestant to miss out on Lord Alan Sugar’s £250,000 investment has been named.
After the lads lost twice in a row in week three, the teams were mixed up and submerged in a world of virtual escape rooms, with the objective of developing a new game concept and selling it to specialists.
However, Dr. Asif Munaf was sacked, therefore one candidate’s chances were finished.
After failing to impress in previous weeks and finishing in the bottom three, the 33-year-old told Lord Sugar he would put himself forward as project manager last week, but was unsuccessful.
Lord Sugar told him: ‘You’re a poor, poor manager, so it is with regret you’re fired.’
‘What a bloody mess,’ he added.
Munaf said in the car back: ‘I’m feeling gutted, but I won’t be defeated.’
He added that the experience was a ‘flame’ to push him further in his business.
Munaf’s departure after allegations that he uttered ‘a torrent of anti-Jewish slurs’ on social media.
The doctor from Sheffield will not appear on tonight’s You’re Fired, which follows the main programme on Thursdays and is hosted by Tom Allen, after the BBC faced rising demand to remove him from the competition.
The station has faced calls to take action in recent weeks after Munaf posted antisemitic comments on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The physician apologised for inappropriate postings on Hamas, Zionism, Islam, and masculinity and received’specialist training’ from the broadcaster.
Munaf made antisemitic remarks in response to a question about his casting in The Apprentice, tweeting, ‘Standard bitter Zionist coming out from beneath her rock,’ according to MailOnline.
He has also endorsed the University of Masculinity X account, which has previously retweeted controversial influencer Andrew Tate’s remarks.
A spokesperson for the BBC show previously said that after filming took place, they were made aware of ‘concerns over social media posts that Asif had made after he had left the process’.
‘As soon as we were alerted, we took immediate action and spoke to Asif in detail on this,’ they said.
‘Asif took part in specialised training to understand why his posts may cause offence.’
They added: ‘We are committed to providing an inclusive environment on and off screen.’
In a statement, Munaf apologised for ‘any offence caused’ by his social media posts.
‘It was not my intention to offend anyone, and I am of course open to all views,’ he said.
‘The beliefs I hold and have shared are based on the values that I was brought up with.’
He disputed antisemitic claims on X in January.
Earlier today, Munaf shared a series of posts confirming he would be axed from the programme, saying: ‘They can cut my scenes from the show but they cut my connection with Him.’
He also wrote: ‘My time on the show will come to end tonight. But this is just the beginning. We thank Him for the opportunity to bring the plight of our brothers and sisters in Gaza to the mainstream.’
Munaf elsewhere implied the BBC ‘did [him] dirty’, writing: ‘They did my dirty. The lobby pressured the broadcaster and they relented. This will only ingite a bigger flame in my belly. We have Him.’
On season 15 of Dragons’ Den, the entrepreneur was warned by Touker Suleyman that he ‘wasn’t a businessman’ and by Peter Jones that he would ‘rather’ Munaf focus on saving lives as a doctor than pursuing commercial enterprises.
The Apprentice airs Thursdays at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
