Inside Man is the latest mystery drama gripping the nation thanks to its stellar cast and suspenseful soundtrack.
The captivating four-parter, starring David Tennant and Stanley Tucci, follows a prisoner on death row in the US, a vicar in a quiet English town, and a maths teacher trapped inside a cellar.
The official plot reads: ‘In the US, a prisoner on death row is seeking atonement as he faces execution. On a train in England, a journalist is looking for a story.
‘In a quiet little village, a vicar is picking up his son’s maths tutor from the station. All four are about to be entangled in a dilemma that could lead one of them to murder.’
Doctor Who star David stars as vicar Harry Watling, while American actor Stanley plays murderer Jefferson Grieff.
Elsewhere, It’s A Sin’s Lydia West plays investigative journalist Beth Davenport.
Fans still can’t get the catchy theme tune out of their heads, but who sings it?
What is the theme song for Inside Man?
The bop titled, God’s Gonna Cut You Down, was popular by American singer Johnny Cash who recorded his rendition of the song in 2003, and it has since appeared in several TV shows and film.
Inside Man uses a special cover of the song performed by John Grant, an American and Icelandic musician who is known as the lead singer of The Czars.
At a recent press event, director Paul McGuigan explained the decision to use John’s remix and said that it was composer David Arnold’s ‘brilliant’ idea to use the song.
‘Well this is perfect, so why don’t we do a version of that?’ he said.
Writer Steven Moffatt also explained how his son Louis Oliver landed the role as Ben Watling.
During the exclusive screening in London, Steven said: ‘He was recommended to me, genuinely, by [screenwriter] Mike Flanagan.
‘Mike Flanagan sent me an email saying, “he’s brilliant, your son”. And we were looking to cast a Ben.’
‘But we made him audition, and other people auditioned too,’ he added.
Inside Man continues at 9pm on BBC One.
