Former The Only Way Is Essex actor James Lock has revealed the outcome of his surgery after injuring himself on The Challenge UK.
Last year, the 37-year-old Celebs Go Dating star broke his eye sockets and nose in a ‘freak accident’ on the UK edition of the US reality programme hosted by Mark Wright.
James, who was hospitalised following the horrific event, has now had corrective surgery at Serene Cosmetic in Turkey and has posted the results on Instagram.
The Celebrity Dinner Date actor shared a slideshow of photos, including selfies taken soon after the treatment, which showed his face bruised and bandaged, as well as post-surgery photos.
Taking his 1.1million followers through the eight snaps and sharing an insight into the recovery process, James captioned the post: ‘Surgery dump so far! Swipe to see what my face looked like before and parts of my journey.’
He previously addressed surgery in a video posted to Instagram in December:’Anyone that knows me knows the accident bothered me, it’s left a bit of a dent.
‘I’ve wanted it done for a long time and it’s something I’ve really thought about.’
Mark, the Challenge UK presenter, previously discussed James’ injuries on This Morning, telling then-hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield that they were the result of a “freak accident.”
Recalling how the incident happened, Mark said: ‘It was a platform above water, I think it was about three meters high, which is quite high.
‘It was just the way he, unfortunately, hit the water that he fractured both of his eye sockets. It was terrible.’
Following the incident, Mark dubbed James a “warrior,” revealing that despite failing the challenge, he was tenacious.
A source previously told The Sun: ‘James was rushed to hospital after seriously bruising his face within the first 3 days of filming the Challenge UK.’
They added: ‘The injury was caused during one of the many dangerous activities contestants have to take part in, it was so scary to see, he was in agony.’
James participated in The Challenge UK alongside Curtis and AJ Pritchard, as well as Love Island‘s Kaz Crossley and Kaz Kamwi.
The five-part series, shot in Argentina, follows fourteen celebrities as they compete in a series of demanding events in pairs.
