Stacey Solomon had a’scary’ episode after being brought to the hospital while on vacation in Jamaica with her family.
After keeping silent since coming home, the Loose Women actress went to social media with a series of updates.
‘I know it feels like I’ve just fallen off the face of the earth the last few days and I promise I’d come home and get straight into our January sort out together, and I’ve been promising it for months. I’m so sorry,’ the 34-year-old began.
‘We had the worst exit to Jamaica of all time. I can’t even get over what’s happened.
‘It doesn’t feel real, today’s the first day I’ve felt like I can walk around the house and feel, like, normal.’
Stacey explained: ‘Cut a long story short, the day before we were travelling home I started to feel a little bit, like, flu-y, so I was like, oh I’m getting that flu that everyone’s got, that’s alright, we’re going home tomorrow so I’ll just get through it and get over and carry on.
‘So I carried on and then as the day went on, it just felt worse and worse.’
She then urged her husband, Joe Swash, to take their children out to supper while she went to bed to “sleep it off.”
‘And then he got back from dinner and took one look at me and rang my sister and my mum, because he was like, she looks a mess.
‘My sister comes in the room and I know it’s something serious when my sister comes in the room. She’s a nurse but she’s very much, like, she wouldn’t bother. She’s like, “You’re fine”, unless you’re not fine.
‘She came in and was like, “We need to sit you up, cool you down, get you some paracetamol.” Did all her nursing stuff. Every time she checked my temperature, all I remember was her not saying anything. What she said to me afterwards was that my temperature was going up and not coming down.
‘They called the medical team inside the hotel and the nurse came down, took one look and me and was putting an oxygen mask on me, covering me in wet towels, and my temperature was still too high. She said I needed to get to the hospital.’
After being taken to hospital, Stacey was given an IV and she ‘instantly’ began feeling ‘so much better’ but ‘still rough as hell.’
She was kept overnight before the officials approved her flight home.
‘Poor Joe had all the kids for 10 hours,’ she joked, having still felt totally out of it on the plane.
Stacey has now vowed to ‘listen to my body’ and ‘let myself get well’ after the nightmare.
She then quipped that she’ll be a ‘weirdo’ if she keeps her Christmas decorations up until February while she recovers.
The former X Factor judge ended her videos by thanking her millions of followers for ‘checking in’ when she saw her regular Stories had ceased.
‘I’m just gonna rest up and, hopefully, in a couple of days I’ll feel back to normal,’ she said.
‘But even then, I think I’m gonna take it slow because I don’t ever wanna be in that situation again. It actually scared me a little bit.’
Stacey and her loved ones rang in the year 2024 in brighter climes after she surprised 20 family members with the vacation – which was going swimmingly before her hospital sprint, of course.
She brought her five children from prior marriages – Zachary, 15, and Leighton, 11, as well as Rex, four, Rose, two, and newborn Belle – as well as step-son Harry, 16, and a slew of other relatives.
The luxurious break, however, drew criticism from the TV icon.
Trolls accused Stacey and Joe of flaunting their money, especially in light of the current cost of living crisis.
Stacey, on the other hand, had her head held high, shrugging off the vitriol with a caustic remark.
Taking to her Instagram Story, she penned: ‘I so needed this time with my family. So much can happen in a year and I’m so grateful to be spending special time with our parents and sisters and nieces and nephews.
‘I am definitely sticking to the “fudge it” year for 2024. I feel like I’ve already started.’
‘No more worrying about what people say or think’, Stacey declared. ‘It’s time to just live.’
It wasn’t long ago that Stacey and Joe were chastised for yet another extravagant vacation, which they had to defend.
Joe responded to the criticism he and Stacey received for their Turkey trip last summer, stating you had to ‘take the rough with the nice.’
He told The Mirror: ‘We’re in the public eye so you’ve got to take the rough with the smooth and not everyone is going to agree with us.
‘We work really hard and we try to take our kids on holiday. We only work hard so we can spend more time and do more things with our family.
‘People are going to have a go but it’s fine they’re allowed their opinion and we take it with a pinch of salt.’
Meanwhile, Stacey encouraged users to ‘unfollow’ her if they didn’t agree with her material.
