Following allegations of a ‘feud,’ many have been waiting for an update on whether Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will return to lead This Morning together next week.
It’s been a tough few days for the hosts of the popular ITV daytime programme, with insiders stating that the duo no longer interact behind the scenes and that their friendship has ‘cooled’.
On Saturday night, reports stated that Holly, 42, had severed connections with her co-host, 61, as she plans to front the show either with Alison Hammond or on her own.
ITV has confirmed that Holly and Phil will return to the famed couch on Monday.
Announcing the news on This Morning’s official Twitter page, a tweet outlining tomorrow’s show said: Coming up on tomorrow’s #ThisMorning with Phillip and Holly:
‘⭐️ First ever I’m a Celeb legend Myleene Klass🗞️ Gyles and Camilla give their morning view🏋️ Daniel Craig’s trainer gets us into shape🐕 The stars of cult comedy Colin from Accounts.’
It added: ‘And did we mention… 12 at 12 is back, which could see you winning up to £12,000! All that and more, from 10am on ITV1, STV and ITVX.’
Fans have expressed an interest in watching Monday’s episode to see if they can identify any hints of tension between the two.
One wrote: ‘I won’t be watching for any of this – I’ll be watching to see the tension between Holly and Phillip, lovely.’
Another said: ‘I imagine most people will watching for other reasons!!!!!’
A third added: ‘Predicting high ratings for tomorrow’s episode.’
Reports of a rift between Holly and Phil initially surfaced last week, with insiders suggesting that the duo are not on good terms behind the scenes, despite their deteriorating relationship.
In a statement released with The Sun, Phil sought to dismiss claims of a conflict and lavished admiration on Holly.
‘As I have said before, Holly is my rock,’ he said. ‘We’re the best of friends – as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.
‘Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her.
‘The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us.’
However, insiders afterwards claimed that Phil’s statement had ‘blindsided’ Holly, who had no idea he was going to speak about their connection.
This Morning executives are also said to be in crisis discussions over Phil’s future on the show due to worries about his falling popularity with viewers.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV1.
