If the official video for the second half of season three of The Witcher is any indication, fans will have to get ready for a sad goodbye to Henry Cavill.
Since the show started in December 2019, the 40-year-old British actor Geralt of Rivia has been the main character. His acting has been praised by many people.
But in 2022, Cavill, who is also known for playing Superman in the DC Extended Universe, said he was leaving the show.
Cavill revealed that he would leave the show at the end of season three, which shocked fans of “The Witcher” and made his co-stars “mourn.”
Then, it was revealed that Liam Hemsworth would take his place. The Hunger Games actor would take over the part at the start of season four.
And judging by the trailer for the last three episodes of season three, Hemsworth will have big shoes to fill once Cavill gives the torch to him.
The action in the teaser starts right after the dramatic mid-season finale, when Sigismund Dijkstra, played by Graham McTavish, betrayed Geralt.
Now that Dijkstra’s coup is over, Geralt can be seen making his way through enemies to meet up with Ciri (Freya Allen) and Yennefer (Anya Cholatra).
He says, “We didn’t come this far to give up on each other,” and Jaskier (Joey Batey) tells Geralt that reuniting with his daughter will cause a stir.
‘Be their hero, Geralt – their angel, be their monument, be anything they need you to be. Or be none of it, you don’t owe this world a thing,’ one fan commented.
‘Henry Cavill’s contribution to the series and him wanting Netflix to be book accurate is admirable, it’s crazy he’s no longer Witcher,’ another said.
But despite the threats of war, once the action stops, Geralt can be seen floating in a body of water without moving. He is probably hurt.
‘There’s no coming back from this’, a voiceover provided by Cavill says, implying that Geralt might not be the same once Hemsworth takes over.
‘My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords,’ a statement said.
‘In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf,’ the Enola Holmes actor said in his short final address to fans.
The Witcher season 3 part 2 is available to stream on Netflix from July 27.
