An famous artefact from the Sopranos series finale is up for auction on eBay, with bids totaling more than $33,000.
The famous drama, which followed the lives of fictitious crime leader Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), who battled to manage his family life with his business, aired for six seasons until concluding in 2007.
The cast also included Michael Imperioli, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Lorraine Bracco, Edie Falco, and Drea de Matteo, with Gandolfini’s son taking up the role in the 2021 prequel film The Many Saints of Newark.
Although considered one of the best shows of all time, the ambiguous ending is one of the most divisive moments in TV history. Tony met with his loved ones for a tense dinner just before the screen cut to black, with many debating whether the patriarch was assassinated by an enemy in those final seconds.
Viewers may now purchase a piece of the action when Holsten’s restaurant in New Jersey listed the actual booth where the scene was shot on eBay due to renovations.
They may need to take out a loan to pay for the seats, as the offer is presently $33,200.
Anyone want to go halves…?
The listing reads: ‘OWN THE FAMOUS SOPRANO’S BOOTH FROM HOLSTEN’S IN BLOOMFIELD, NJ!
‘We are currently renovating our booths at Holsten’s. This is your once in a lifetime chance to own the ORIGINAL booth that the Soprano Family sat in for the final scene of the famous show!
‘The booth includes both seats, table, and divider wall with the plaque “Reserved for the Sopranos Family”. Please note that the jukebox is NOT included with the sale.’
‘The booth can be disassembled for easy transport. All parts are used (not new) and sold as is,’ they added. ‘Due to the size and weight of this item, it is for pick up only.
‘If the buyer needs it shipped, it will be at their own risk, cost, and arrangement. We will NOT be responsible for ANY shipping arrangements. Once the sale is completed, the buyer is sole responsibility for the transport of the booth.’
At the time of writing, the auction has received over 127 offers, and with four days remaining, the number might rise even further.
The Sopranos premiered in 1999 and quickly became one of the top television shows of all time.
Imperioli and Bracco teamed together earlier this year to commemorate the series’ 25th anniversary at the Emmys, where it received 21 prized prizes.
Imperioli, who portrayed Christopher Moltisanti, previously discussed his experience as a member of the fictitious crime organisation, including his opinions on the notorious finale.
‘I still do not know and I’ve gone back and forth,’ he told Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show. ‘I still don’t know what the hell happened, I really don’t.
‘Now I’m saying that the end was just the end. It just ended and there is nothing after and it just went to black.’
Show creator David Chase has always insisted that ‘there was nothing definite about what happened’ in the final scene in the diner, but added that ‘if you look at the final episode really carefully, it’s all there.’
It might be time for another rewatch – in the comfort of our brand new booth…
