After being drugged in a Caribbean club, a former The Bachelor Australia contestant has cautioned holidaymakers to be cautious.
Monique Morley, who competed on the 2019 season of the Australian reality dating show, claims she was ‘practically immobilised’ after going to a pub with a friend for a drink.
‘I’m in the Caribbean with a girlfriend, and we went out for drinks in a small pub around midday,’ she revealed.
‘The location wasn’t nice, and we were the only ones there, and this local man was like, “Hey, I need to get in front of you.”
‘It seemed strange since the venue was deserted. I imagined he was heading to a tiny refrigerator along the wall. ‘When I turned to the side to look at the ocean from the balcony, he walked by for a second and then shuffled back,’ she explained to Yahoo Lifestyle.
Monique, 35, claimed that her drink had only recently been served, but when she returned to sip it, she began to “feel really weird.”

Monique assumed her drink had been poisoned after asking her buddy whether she felt the same way, which she didn’t.
‘The drink was only left unattended for five seconds,’ she added.
Soon after her health took a turn and ‘everything then started going dizzy’.
On their drive home Monique was throwing up, and said she could ‘hardly’ feel her legs, while her ‘whole body felt weird’.
After getting home the former reality star said she felt ‘practically paralysed and was violently sick for hours’.
‘I’m not sure why I was targeted. Maybe for my handbag and phone, I’m not sure. It’s just lucky I figured it out early,’ she said.
Despite the fact that she survived the ordeal unscathed, Monique has given a caution to others.
‘With holidays approaching, please can everyone be so so careful when out, especially when travelling and overseas,’ she said.
‘Watch your drinks and always have someone you trust around you.
‘You should always listen to your gut too and remove yourself from situations you don’t feel comfortable in.’
Monique caught the eye of astronomer Matt Agnew on The Bachelor four years ago, making it approximately halfway through the competition.
She was fired, however, after it was revealed that she had dubbed the bachelor a “disrespectful pig.”
After the broadcast, she said the remark was a joke, but she added she wouldn’t stop and talk to Matt if she saw him on the street.
The Bachelor airs on Channel Ten in Australia.
