Amy Dowden of Strictly Come Dancing has released a tragic update on her cancer treatment.
The professional dancer, 33, disclosed earlier this year that she had stage 3 breast cancer.
She’s since had a single mastectomy and is undergoing chemotherapy after doctors discovered new malignancies, forcing her to leave Strictly 2023.
While Amy has received overwhelming support from fans and friends alike, she has taken to social media to put on a brave face and give treatment updates.
Her most recent post, though, was a heartbreaking image of her hair loss.
Holding a clump of her hair, she wrote: ‘Welcome home’ with a series of broken hearts.
She added: ‘So much everyday! So hard! One day at a time!’
Amy disclosed the blood clots she discovered while in the hospital.
‘And I’m going home to my own bed! Thanks again to the marvellous NHS!’ she shared on Instagram on Wednesday night.
‘Got some blood clots but I’m feeling good other than a sore and swollen arm.
‘Another hurdle along this journey. But again forever grateful to the NHS and my heroes around me.’
She added: ‘Can’t wait to get into my own bed since Monday though 😜💖🎀🙏 #nhs #canceryoung #chemotherapy #myownbed #nhsheroes.’
Amy said on Sunday that her second round of chemotherapy treatment has resulted in “hair shedding,” which she described as “heartbreaking.”
Posting a video of the hair that had fallen out, she wrote: ‘The reality when I gently comb’, with a broken heart emoji.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC later this year.
