Amanda Abbington will miss Saturday night’s Strictly Come Dancing live broadcast ‘due to medical concerns,’ it has been reported.
Janette Manrara, a former Strictly professional, confirmed the news on BBC Two spin-off show It Takes Two, telling the audience, “We have some breaking news.”
‘Unfortunately, due to medical reasons, Amanda will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend,’ she said.
‘Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, Amanda and Giovanni (Pernice) will return the following week.’
The 39-year-old added: ‘Amanda we hope you get well soon, my love, sending you all the best wishes.’
This comes after Amanda denied allegations that she was about to leave the show because she didn’t like Giovanni, 33.
Within days of the new series’ debut, speculations circulated that Amanda was threatening to leave the programme – only hours before the first live broadcast of the season.
While a source said the two were feuding, her reps denied the claims, telling Metro.co.uk that they were absolutely false.
Amanda later responded to the rumours with an expletive-laden outburst on Instagram.
She began by wishing people a ‘happy Saturday,’ first saying she was at work then correcting herself by saying she was at Strictly HQ, which is ‘just fun isn’t it, it’s fun shenanigans.’
‘I’m wearing my jacket that says “Who cares what other people think?”‘ she went on, making a face at the camera.
‘It’s all fun,’ she went on. ‘Ignoring the bulls**t. Cleary, because people are t***s. Just stop. Stop it, you know who you are.
‘Stop it, grow up, stop it. No one gives a s***. And shut up, it’s b******s, so shut up. You know who I’m talking to, jog on. It’s nonsense and you know it’s nonsense. So that’s it!’
Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow night at 6.30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
