Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell has been hit with messages from cruel trolls following unfounded claims she’s cheating on her boyfriend Joe Sugg with her dance partner Max George.
The 31-year-old professional dancer has been targeted by sick keyboard warriors who have made allegations on social media since the new series got underway.
In one now-deleted tweet, one of Joe’s ‘fans’ claimed to be at the apartment block where Dianne and Max are living for the duration of the series, it ended with the chilling words: ‘This will be the end for Dianne.’
‘This was truly chilling — because someone claimed to be waiting for Dianne at a certain address,’ an insider said.
‘Producers have taken action, along with security teams, and reassured the cast that their safety is paramount.
The source continued to The Sun: ‘Sadly, death threats to cast members are something producers have to deal with as the profile of their talent is sky-high.
‘There is a strong security presence at the studios in Elstree, even with less people coming and going due to the Covid restrictions. They might now set up patrols near their accommodation too.’
A BBC spokesman told the publication: ‘We take security and the safety of our cast and crew very seriously.
‘All our security arrangements are reviewed and adjusted accordingly for every live show.’
Dianne and Joe first met on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 and were paired up together. They officially confirmed their relationship in December 2018, not long after leaving the competition in second place.
Earlier this month, Dianne told Metro.co.uk she isn’t dreading Strictly curse rumours linked to the bubble, and pointed out that she’ll be way too busy with the show to give pay hearsay any attention.
‘We’re not actually living with our partner or anything like that, it’s just that we’re forming a bubble with them,’ she told us. ‘To be honest, it’s going to be like any other year.
‘When you’re on the show, you’re so dedicated to the show that even if I wasn’t in that bubble, I’d be going to rehearsals and coming home and just sleeping really.
‘I don’t really do much else because it really does consume your time and so to me, it’s not really that different. I think the media is always going to speculate and say things anyway.
‘You just bat an eyelid at it because you know you’re working well and doing your job.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7.15pm on BBC One.
