Strictly Come Dancing contestant Jamie Laing has made the decision to take a ‘step back’ from Made in Chelsea to focus on other projects.
The reality star, who made his debut on the dancing competition last night, rose to fame on MIC in 2011 as a main cast member.
However, despite admitting he will always be ‘loyal’ to the show, Jamie wants to step away to try his hand at other things – like Strictly.
‘I’m incredibly loyal towards [the production company] Monkey Kingdom and Channel 4 – a lot of people talk badly about reality shows and say they were shown in a bad light,’ he began.
‘Well, I was shown in a bad light, I was shown in a good light, I went on the most amazing holidays, I got paid to hang out with my friends and I was on TV for ten years. I’d never say, “Hey, that’s me done,” but yes, I’m definitely taking a step back.’
Jamie went on to add that when he first started on MIC, he didn’t think about the ‘consequences of his behaviour’.
‘I joined a TV show, then I became lucky. I did Made in Chelsea for so long, and at the beginning, we thought we were famous. We were nothing,’ he added to The Sunday Times newspaper’s Style magazine.
Jamie wowed the Strictly judges on Saturday night after he danced to the Cha Cha with pro Karen Hauer.
Speaking ahead of the BBC series, the 31-year-old, who has been dating fellow MIC star Sophie Haboo for a year, insisted he wasn’t worried about the Strictly curse.
‘We didn’t speak too much about the Strictly curse,’ he began.
‘I’m very lucky to be with my girlfriend, she is a lot better than me, than I am in every single way, so I don’t worry about a Strictly curse.
If any Strictly curse did happen, it would be a complete shame, so I don’t think it will ever happen.’

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday on BBC One.
