Strictly Come Dancing star Molly Rainford has confessed she was on the verge of tears when she was in the dreaded dance-off.
The CBBC star and pro dancer Carlos Gu landed in the bottom two over the weekend and were pitted against comedian Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer.
Judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Craig Revel Horwood ultimately opted to save the 21-year-old and Carlos, who had performed a street dance to the Grange Hill theme tune.
Reflecting about that moment on Tuesday’s It Takes Two to host Rylan Clark, Molly admitted she struggled to ‘hold back tears’ when she battled against the Alma’s Not Normal actor to stay in the juggernaut series.
Describing the experience as ‘tough’, Molly said she has been ‘having so much fun’ in the competition that she was preying it wouldn’t be her ‘last dance.’
She told the former The X Factor contestant that she hoped she hadn’t let down ‘amazing’ Carlos because she’s having ‘such a good time and didn’t want it to end there.’
‘It was a tough night,’ she added.
Having received negative feedback from the panel, Molly also said she ‘completely understood’ their criticism, adding that the routine hadn’t been as ‘exciting’ as their previous performances.
Molly, who has generally impressed the fabulous four over the series, had previously said she felt the pressure after soaring to the top of the leaderboard in the first couple of weeks.
She told Janette Manrara in a previous It Takes Two: ‘I am feeling a little bit scared for the coming weeks just because I feel like we have set a good bar and there’s pressure to keep that up.’
But she did also admit it ‘felt good’ to be in the top spot on the leaderboard after scoring some nines from the judges in week two.
This week Molly and other celebs, including Ellie Simmonds and Hamza Yassin, will be testing out their Tangos in a Halloween spooktacular.
Molly and Carlos will perform the Argentine Tango to Stranger Things’ tune Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush.
They will be trying to overtake wildlife presenter and cameraman Hamza, who is currently top of the leaderboard with 35 points, followed by Helen Skelton and Fleur East
It Takes Two continues tomorrow at 6.30pm on BBC Two.
