Tim Lovejoy was constantly seeking to generate mayhem on the recently cancelled sports show Soccer AM, according to Rocket.
The 54-year-old Sunday Brunch host hosted the Saturday morning programme for 11 years until announcing his resignation in 2007.
Jimmy Bullard is the current presenter, however it was reported earlier this week that the show will be axed after nearly 30 years on the air.
After the cancellation was announced, Soccer AM’s Rocket reminisced on his time on the program, noting Tim’s playful character.
He explained: ‘Every week Tim would say, “If we are not pushing the boundaries we are not doing our job.”
‘He wanted to be called into the head’s office every week for something that had been inappropriate or he pushed it too far.
Rocket continued to The Sun: ‘But he said, “That’s when you know you’re doing a good job”. That was the mentality of the show.’
After broadcasting since 1995, the popular football show will terminate at the conclusion of season three, with only 10 episodes remaining.
Jimmy is said to be ‘furious’ at the cancellation, and other members of staff, including long-serving and popular broadcasters, are also set to lose their jobs.
Meanwhile, a Sky Spokesperson said: ‘Soccer AM has played an important role in our coverage of football for the past three decades, and we continually adapt to the evolving needs of our customers.
‘We now go into a period of consultation to discuss the proposed changes with our people. We are unable to provide more detail while these consultations are underway.’
Saturday Social is expected to replace Soccer AM, a newer football-based Sky programme that involves YouTube and online stars and is aimed at a younger audience.
