Simon Cowell was speechless as his puppet doppelganger serenaded him with a song during the most recent episode of America’s Got Talent.
The recording mogul, 63, was unable to respond on the most recent episode of the talent show when Puppet Simon and the Cow Belles impressed judges Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel with their performance of Queen’s Somebody to Love – then Sofa Vergara slammed the dreaded buzzer.
‘Well first of all I did the buzzer before Simon [puppet Simon] appeared on stage, but I don’t think it’s an act that belongs on AGT,’ the Modern Family actress explained.
Seeing the humorous side of it all, Simon took a jibe at his co-judge replying: ‘I just love the fact that Sofia is arguing with a puppet.’
He continued: ‘I’m not a huge fan of these kinds of acts but I thought that was really funny.’
Of course, the X Factor judge had to compliment the puppet look-alike, calling it “handsome and charismatic.”
‘I feel like I’m in the middle of a weird dream,’ Howie quipped before the three judges gave them a yes.
Simon has had an eventful experience on the show so far, but the most bizarre was when the producers devised a brilliant solution to him losing his voice.
The judge could scarcely make a sound when he took the stage during the fifth week of tryouts.
Unwilling to let Simon go, presenter Terry Crews offered him with a clever alternative that he had devised.
Terry said at the opening of the presentation that there will be a “prize” for the long-serving judge.
‘Being the great person that I am, I got a gift for him,’ he explained.
‘I have a special soundboard that has been loaded up with thousands of comments – a lot of things he’s said over the years – so we’ll be able to hear Simon Cowell.’
Simon’s comments from prior seasons of the programme were rehashed at that moment, allowing him to simultaneously welcome and condemn this week’s hopeful participants.
America’s Got Talent airs on NBC in the US.
