Spoilers for Secret Invasion episode 2 follow.
When it comes to keeping secrets, Marvel’s new TV drama Secret Invasion certainly lives up to its name… with the second episode on Disney Plus revealing a lot about Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) and his fascinating personal life.
Furthermore, a certain statement in the most recent installment has fans believing that a popular character from the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. series may be on her way…
The second episode covers the aftermath of the massive explosion triggered by hardline Skrull commander Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir) with the assistance of double spy G’iah (Emilia Clarke), which resulted in the terrible death of Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders).
It begins with a flashback to the 1990s, when Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) assisted in saving the surviving Skrull refugees from Kree assailants, temporarily putting them on Earth while she and Fury sought for a planet for them to call home.
Rhodey sparks suspicion of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cameo
Colonel James Rhodes, aka Rhodey (Don Cheadle), meets up with Fury for a tense catch-up following the strike in Moscow, which left thousands dead and others missing in the debris.
After speaking with many global leaders about what transpired in Russia and Fury’s alleged participation – oblivious to the fact that some of those leaders are Skrulls now under Gravik’s control – Rhodey isn’t shy in berating the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
‘Here’s the crazy part’ Fury continues, emphasising the gravity of the problem with Skrull invasion on Earth. ‘We’re being invaded and we can’t even tell who the invaders are. Moscow was just the beginning.’
Rhodey then provides a cryptic response, which some fans believe might be a hint of an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. cameo from a certain Daisy Johnson, also known as Quake (Chloe Bennet), who was a series protagonist.

‘Maybe we should call our friends,’ he puts forward.
Fury then responds: ‘No, no, no. We can’t jump the gun on that. We get them in a fight with the Skrulls, and next thing you know, they find themselves duplicated and turned into terrorists,’ he states.
He adds: ‘This is my war, Rhodey. I need you to back me on this.’ But Rhodey refuses to do so.
At Rhodey’s line of ‘maybe we should call our friends’, one person tweeted: ‘Quake on the way?!’
Another remarked: ‘Quake is coming,’ while another said: ‘Surely this could apply to either the Avengers or Agents of Shield agents.’
Could it be? We’ll have to wait and see!
Maria Hill’s death confirmed as Fury meets agent’s mourning mother
When it comes to TV deaths, especially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s always the possibility that everything isn’t as it appears on the surface, with suspected fallen figures resurfacing.
However, at the end of episode one, when Gravik shot Maria Hill dead while the shape-shifting Skrull was impersonating Fury, it appeared nearly clear that her death was legitimate.
If any viewers needed more evidence, they received it in episode two, when Maria’s mother, Elizabeth (Juliet Stevenson), is presented with her daughter’s coffin as Fury describes how his old ally perished.
Maria Hill, you will be much missed.
New details of Fury’s home life come to light as wife is revealed.

Given that Fury is one of, if not the, best spy in the MCU, little is known about his personal life behind the scenes – and we’re sure he prefers it that way.
However, in Secret Invasion episode two, viewers gain additional access into his house… including his wife.
Not only is Fury married (having previously stated having a wife in Captain America: Winter Soldier, which fans likely assumed was a lie), but his wife is a Skrull.
Meet Priscilla Fury (Charlayne Woodard), the Skrull who initially introduced Fury to a young Gravik and is now his wife, appearing as a human on Earth.
Will we start to see a more amorous side to Fury?

One fan believed that the reason Fury didn’t murder Gravik when they met during the raid in Russia was because he and Priscilla treated him like a son when he was discovered as a youngster.
Another theory is that Fury is unaware that his wife is a Skrull and that she is being impersonated to spy on him… We’re hoping that this isn’t the case, and that they merely fell in love when he was attempting to find a home for the Skrulls.
Secret Invasion is available to watch on Disney Plus, with new episodes released on Disney Plus.
