Rylan Clark is having a nightmare attempting to go by rail to Liverpool for Eurovision 2023.
The 34-year-old host will work alongside DJ Scott Mills to give commentary for the contest’s semi-finals on BBC One and the final on BBC Radio Two.
With little over a week until the first semi-final, Rylan announced he’ll be heading up to the northern city on Saturday, where he’ll remain for a fortnight.
But little did he realise that his journey would be anything but smooth due to rail delays during the Bank Holiday weekend.
After arriving at London, Euston shortly after 6pm, the former X Factor contestant tweeted: ‘All trains suspended at EUSTON YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS. This is how I perish.’
He then kept his fans up to date with a series of tense updates.
In one post, Rylan said: ‘A group of women have just screamed RYLAN at the top of their voice on the concourse. Slowly dying.’
But it wasn’t long before Rylan made friends with other rail passengers stuck at Euston.
‘I’ve befriended an elder who has just come back from Japan and is looking to get to Birmingham,’ he tweeted. ‘Lovely man. This is real.
‘His name was David and was such a gentleman. He’s now on his way to Birmingham.’
Posting a photo of himself and a bunch of new mates, he also shared: ‘I’ve made friends that are also stranded x.’

Rylan then poured himself a glass of red wine, no doubt to ease his anxiety.
‘F*ck this,’ he tweeted alongside a picture of his beverage.
Rylan was eventually allowed to board his train, but the issues didn’t end there.
Sharing a selfie of himself keeping a low profile in sunglasses and holding a tinnie, he tweeted: ‘The train has been declared DECLASSIFIED. No drinks. No food. No seats.
‘Nothing matters anymore. A lady has give me a pornstar martini. This could be the end. God speed x.’
Rylan reported in another update that a member of the public had shifted his bags.
Sharing a video of his repositioned bag, he fumed: ‘SOMEONE HAS MOVED MY CASE AND PUT IT DIAGONALLY!!!! Is this the etiquette?! I don’t think this is acceptable tbf.’
Rylan’s luck began to improve after what must have felt like hours, and he verified that he was on the move by releasing a photo of a glass of red wine in Milton Keynes.
Will he, however, make it to Liverpool? We’ll have to see what happens.
Rylan’s trip captivated more than just us.
UK Eurovision entry Mae Muller was also entertained, and taking to Twitter she said: ‘I don’t think I have ever been as invested in anything as I am with Rylan’s journey to Liverpool.’
This Bank Holiday weekend, National Rail has confirmed significant disruption across rail networks.
They said that between April 29 and May 1, there would be renovations between London Euston and Scotland, resulting in modifications to some routes.
Today will see the closure of London’s Euston station.
