Ruth Langsford has promised to’save’ Holly Willoughby after her co-stars Dermot O’Leary and Gino D’Acampo caused a commotion in the studio.
This comes after Ruth’s husband, Loose Women star Eamonn Holmes, has been critical of This Morning and its hosts, particularly Holly and Phillip Schofield.
Schofield left the show after more than 20 years and left all of his ITV projects after admitting to a ‘unwise but not unlawful’ romance with a considerably younger staffer.
Since then, Eamonn has gone on rants against Schofield and Holly, calling him a “fraud” and accusing her of having a “big mouth.”
He has previously called the This Morning presenters ‘drunk,’ and said Holly was ‘using’ Alison Hammond.
Despite all of the criticism, Ruth has gone to Holly’s aid.
As the studio turned chaotic with Gino and Dermot, with the former X Factor host pretending to be the Italian TV chef in the kitchen, the Loose Women stars appeared for a preview.
‘Ruth save me!’ Holly began. ‘They’ve taken over!’
Ruth replied: ‘Holly have they been drinking? Do you need us to come and rescue you?’
As Gino chimed in by telling Ruth he was going to come and give her a kiss, Holly shouted: ‘Lock the doors Loose Women!’
This comes after an awkward moment when Gino directly brought up Schofield’s exit, amid rumours of the ‘toxic’ atmosphere at ITV.
‘I was in Italy for a month. I came back two days ago … any news? Anything from the last month that I should know?’ Gino teased.
Dermot looked awkward as Holly chirped extremely happily, ‘No!’
‘Anything I should know?’ Gino inquired again. Dermot had a The Office moment as he gazed directly into the camera while nervously nibbling on a pen, while Holly claimed there was “no news.”
And, just to make matters worse, Gino caught up on this and said loudly, ‘Why is Dermot not talking anymore?’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
