Piers Morgan apologised to Kathy Burke seven years ago for being a “overly sensitive snowflake.”
The comedian discussed being banned by the network in 2016 on her show, Where There’s A Will, There’s A Wake.
Kathy remembered someone posting a tribute Tweet to “see who would jump on it,” joking about Blue Peter broadcaster Tony Hart passing recently, despite the fact that he died in 2009.
She began: ‘It’s sort of a bit wicked, but it was funny,’ before accidentally calling Piers ‘Corbyn’ instead of ‘Morgan’, and correcting herself.
‘I mean, Tony Hart’s been gone about 10 years or something. the 58-year-old said to Jennifer Saunders, who recounted her own tale of being blocked by Suella Braverman.
‘Anyway, someone put out a tweet saying, “So sad about Tony Hart’s passing,” and Morgan straight on it, “Oh this is so sad”.’
‘This man calls himself a journalist? He didn’t even f**king Google to check! Straight on there!’
The comment led to Piers blocking Kathy on Twitter, but he’s now called himself out and apologised.
She continued on the podcast: ‘I think I just replied and laughed, then he had a go at me and said, “This is terribly disrespectful” and “this isn’t funny’.
‘I just said, “Yes, it is”. Then the next thing, blocked. I got blocked for laughing at his stupid mistake.’
‘What a t**t’, Jennifer added.
Retweeting an article referring to their podcast comments, Piers wrote: ‘I agree with @ferrifrump about this, I was a t**t.
‘Apologies for being such an overly-sensitive snowflake 7yrs ago.
‘@kathyburke – I just tried to unblock you but discovered you’d revenge blocked me. Shall we have a mutual de-blocking?’
Kathy’s ‘woke’ tirade reappeared in the aftermath of Paul O’Grady’s passing, as tributes poured in from celebrities like Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden.
The Lily Savage icon died ‘unexpectedly and peacefully’ at the age of 67, and Amanda paid homage to the pioneer, saying that what she ‘loved’ about O’Grady was that he was ‘not woke in any way’.
Her remarks prompted an outpouring of criticism, with one charging Holden of “utterly misjudging Paul’s legacy.”
A clip from Kathy’s Channel 4 show resurfaced, with many applauding her meaning of ‘woke’, as she says: ‘Can I just say, that gets on my f**king nerves.
‘They’re calling you woke if you call out bad things basically. If you’re not racist, you’re woke. If you’re not homophobic, oh you’re woke.
‘Be woke, kids. Be woke. Be wide awake and f**king call it out.’
