Phillip Schofield has apologised to Holly Willoughby as he has continued to test positive for Covid-19, meaning he will be forced to miss upcoming episodes of This Morning again.
The host, 59, previously confirmed that he had contracted coronavirus on Monday, hours after he had helmed the ITV programme with Rochelle Humes.
After isolating for the rest of the week, it was confirmed that Stephen Mulhern would be replacing him on tonight’s episode of Dancing on Ice.
Phillip has now revealed that he will not be able to present tomorrow’s instalment of This Morning with Holly.
Sharing a photo of his latest positive lateral flow test on his Instagram story, he penned: ‘This really is the day that keeps on giving!! Sorry @thismorning @hollywilloughby.’
His replacement for tomorrow’s instalment of This Morning has not been revealed.
It had been a tough day for the presenter as he had spent the morning dealing with a leak in his home.
Not an ideal time in the Schofield household…
Trying to find the silver lining in the situation, he wrote: ‘Life is full of small consolations.. If I hadn’t tested positive and gone to @dancingonice the house would be flooded.
‘Surprisingly, I’m very calm. As they say in the movie, “Don’t Look Up”.’
Phillip will be watching tonight’s instalment of Dancing On Ice from his home as he continues to isolate, after his positive test.
Holly will be joined by Stephen in the studio – marking the first time in 20 years that they have presented together since their time on children’s television.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the programme stated: ‘This Sunday’s episode of Dancing On Ice will be hosted by Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern while Phillip Schofield continues to self-isolate.’
‘I’m very much looking forward to being back hosting alongside my good friend Holly this weekend,’ Stephen said in his own statement.
‘It’s big shoes to fill and I’m wishing Phillip a speedy recovery. I’m a big fan of Dancing on Ice and for one night only I’m thrilled to be rink side watching the action unfold.
‘It’s going to be unbelievable!’
This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
