Peaky Blinders returns later this month for its final season, with faces old and new, forming part of the stellar cast.
Creator Stephen Knight is currently getting on with writing a film inspired by the world of the Birmingham-based gang, ahead of the show’s finale beginning on February 27.
Season five saw left viewers on a huge cliffhanger, after the leader of the Peaky Blinders, Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy), pointed a gun at his head after having visions of his late wife Grace (Annabelle Wallis).
Despite it not officially known whether a trigger was pulled or not, the promo for season six is full of Tommy’s face plastered everywhere, with it seemingly an unsaid conclusion he survived his ordeal.
But with Tommy set to be under even more pressure as he ramps up his political career, there are some new faces who are bound to cause trouble.
Here’s everything you need to know about who will be joining the cast for season six.
Who is joining the cast of Peaky Blinders season 6?
Stephen Graham
If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years and somehow don’t know who Liverpudlian Stephen is, then you’re definitely about to when Peaky comes back.
Details of his role have remained firmly under wraps, but a teaser clip released late last year shows his character meeting Cillian Murphy’s Tommy Shelby and saying ominously: ‘I hear there are some men here from Birmingham looking for me.’
The Scouser has been featured in little known titles such as Line of Duty, The Irishman and This Is England in recent years, and is one of the UK’s best-known actors.
In 2021 alone, he starred in BBC dramas Time and The North Water, as well as Channel 4’s one-off Help, alongside Jodie Comer.
Conrad Khan
Baptiste and Bafta EE Rising Star nominee Conrad is another newcomer to the series.
The 22-year-old has previously starred in County Lines, Black Mirror and The Huntsman as he gears up for his biggest role to date.
Chatting to NME, Conrad said the scripts for season six are ‘amazing’ and that appearing in the series was a ‘dream come true.’
Again, the question of whose shoes he’ll step into is yet to be answered, but it’s possible he could appear as Ada’s son Karl Thorne, who would now be around 16-years-old in the franchise.
James Frecheville
Australian actor James is best known for his role in Animal Kingdom as Joshua ‘J’ Cody, a confused teenager and youngest member of a criminal family in Melbourne’s underworld.
So we’re sure he’ll fit in well in the world of Birmingham’s most notorious gangsters.
Promo shots show the star looking very suave in a suit, as we predict he’ll cause more than his fair share of drama, with his character not yet known to fans.
Elsewhere, James has starred in BBC’s adaptation of Pursuit of Love alongside Lily James and the 2018 series Requiem.
Amber Anderson
Amber’s character is still kept under wraps, but it’s been rumoured she’s stepping into the shoes of Diana Mitford, aka Lady Mosley.
Diana married Oswald Mosley (played in Peaky by Sam Claflin) at the home of Joseph Goebbels in 1936, with Adolf Hitler as a guest of honour.
It’s thought Amber will act as a new adversary to Tommy, and create even more problems for him as he navigates the difficult world of politics.
Chatting to Digital Spy, director Anthony Byrne labelled her character ‘pretty dark’ and added: ‘I haven’t seen a character like her in Peaky before.
‘I won’t say who she is, but she certainly gives Tommy a run for his money. She challenges him in a different way basically. She’s certainly not a protagonist and I don’t know if she’s an antagonist.’
Amber’s biggest role to date is as Jane Fairfax in Emma opposite Anya Taylor-Joy, as well as parts in Black Mirror and BBC’s adaption of JK Rowling’s Strike series.
Peaky Blinders returns on February 27 to BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
