In the I’m A Celebrity…South Africa group chat, Paul Burrell has spilled the beans on what’s been going on behind the scenes.
After previously participating on the fourth season of the programme in 2004, the former royal butler, 64, was one of the renowned faces that put their hands up to return to the jungle.
While he nearly missed making it to the final, he’s been sharing some secrets about what’s been going on among the group while they all watch the series.
This season, which was filmed in South Africa’s Kruger National Park last year, saw the 15 celebrities given the task of nominating each other for trials as well as deciding who was sent home along the way.
So it’s not surprise that there have been some heated exchanges between the two factions, both on and off television.
Princess Diana’s former butler, one of the most recent evictees, has recently revealed certain feuds and fallouts that have happened.
The line-up’s WhatsApp group appears to have erupted in squabbles as it became evident what was going on behind certain people’s backs when episodes aired.
Paul shared a lot of details about the chat, including Fatima Whitbread berating others for having contraband despite having her own, Georgia Toffolo hiring a private jet to get home faster after a flight delay, Gillian McKeith making it clear she wasn’t happy about comments made behind her back, and Janice Dickinson being’shunned’ by everyone.
‘We have an I’m A Celebrity Legends WhatsApp group,’ Paul said when speaking to The Sun.
‘And we all talk to each other as each night unfolds and we all say, “Wow, I didn’t know that happened”.
‘Now we’re watching it all and we’re seeing the context of everything, we’re constantly texting each other saying, “Oh you did that. Wow’. I do have rumbles to have”.’
He told an anecdote regarding arguments about contraband and his decision to smuggle in a sachet of coffee.
While Fatima informed Paul he had ‘brought disgrace’ on himself by bringing the item in illegally, he later learned she had taken several mints that had also been brought in illegally.
‘That’s a bit rich isn’t it? So she wasn’t quite so righteous after all,’ he said.
Paul added that he ‘didn’t realise how bossy Fatima was until I’ve been watching it’.
He also discussed his conflicts with Janice, who he said was more than willing to share his coffee but’sat there in quiet’ when it came to the point of humiliation.
‘When it was about saving herself, she had plenty to say. Janice was rude to everybody, she doesn’t pull any punches,’ he said.
He then stated that Janice was not in the group conversation for ‘obvious reasons’.
‘It’s fair to say we’re all a little bit wary around Janice,’ he said.
‘Janice was the wild card in the camp and we are all a little bit scared of her to be honest.’
Despite the cold response, the remainder of the campmates are still in contact and appear to be arranging a little vacation together.
‘I have invited the entire crew to the old property my husband and I are renovating in Tuscany — all apart from Janice,’ he said.
Adding that there were ‘little niggles along the way’, Paul said it was ‘human nature’ and he was happy to have met ‘the most incredible bunch of people’.
Paul and former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman, 62, nearly lost out on a place in the final on the last show, with Phil Tuffnell, Myleene Klass, Jordan Banjo, and Fatima all still in the competition.
When questioned about his experience following his eviction by hosts Ant & Dec, Paul described it as a “life-changing and rollercoaster journey.”
The I’m a Celebrity… South Africa finale airs tonight at 9pm on ITV1.
