The horrifying moment a newsreader collapsed during a live show was captured on video.
During a broadcast, the eyes of CBS LA meteorologist Alissa Carlson Schwartz rolled to the back of her head and she fell to the floor.
Alissa was going to deliver a 7 a.m. report when she collapsed into the desk in front of her and landed on the ground.
While introducing her, news reporters Nichelle Medina and Rachel Kim appeared oblivious to the broadcast.
‘Let’s start off with a check of your next weather with meteorologist Alissa Carlson, Nichelle began as Alissa was shown on screen.
She gently leaned forward from behind her desk before her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she fell.
Not noticing, Nichelle continued: ‘Alissa this really is the calm before the storm,’ but as the sound of Alissa’s body hitting the floor was heard in the studio, Rachel cried out and got up from her seat.
Nichelle abruptly said: ‘We’re going to go ahead and go to break right now,’ as the programme continued to show the empty desk where Alissa had been standing seconds before.
According to TMZ, the programme didn’t return to a live segment after the break, but a pre-recorded show aired.
CBS LA vice president and news director Mike Dello Stritto told the publication: ‘Our colleague Alissa Carlson became ill during our 7 AM newscast this morning. I want to thank her co-workers who took immediate action to comfort Alissa and call 911.
‘Alissa is being treated at the hospital right now. Hopefully we’ll know more shortly. In the meantime, Alissa will be in our thoughts and we’re praying for her to be feeling much better soon.’
Alissa herself turned to social media to inform her followers: “I appreciate all the texts, phone calls, and good wishes.
‘I am going to be ok!’ she reassured.
