If you waste hours picking what to watch on Netflix, the streaming provider has revealed a secret method to assist you this Halloween.
With hundreds upon thousands of films and TV episodes to choose from, the platform may be rather daunting at times.
Choosing what to watch alone can be tough, let alone having to consider what others want while watching with someone else or in a group.
But if you’re tired of watching Friends, Seinfeld, or The Office again and over, here is your chance to expand out.
Viewers may access more than 36,000 hidden category codes that date back to the early days of Netflix and can help simplify selections for what to watch.
To explore these collections all viewers need to do is jump onto a web browser, type in “netflix.com/browse/genre/” and then add an ID code of choice to the end of the URL.
The codes were created when Netflix was still a DVD-only service, according to Mary Bertone of Netflix’s Curation and Taxonomy team.
A fan compiled a list of all the ID numbers for the platform’s numerous sorts of films and TV shows that were available to the public on Netflix.com and published it online.
People have been utilising the codes ever since, and hundreds more have been added since then.
Human Connections (81271205) was one of the categories formed during the epidemic, while Take a Trip Around the World (81282911) allowed some escape.
With Halloween right around the corner, those looking to be a little spooked can also search Small Town Scares (81496215), or if you’re already counting down to Christmas, Twisted Christmas (2300975) provides films like Die Hard, which may spark some friendly debates about their inclusion in the festive flicks category.
If you don’t want to spend too much time to whatever you’re seeing, entering 81466194 will get short and snappy videos that each last less than 90 minutes.
With 36,000 codes, we can’t possibly post them all, but here are a few to try this weekend for unlimited Halloween alternatives.
Some options are Horror Movies (8711), B-Horror Movies (8195), Cult Horror Movies (10944), Foreign Horror Movies (8654), Horror Comedy (89585), and Monster Movies (947).
Slasher and Serial Killer Movies (8646), Supernatural Horror Movies (42023), Vampire Horror Movies (75804), Werewolf Horror Movies (75930), and Zombie Horror Movies (75405) are also on the list.
