Merlin Griffiths, who is recovering from colorectal cancer, is overjoyed after receiving the all-clear after his one-year endoscopic check-up.
The First Dates barman revealed in September 2021 that he had been afflicted with bowel cancer and has since kept fans informed on his progress.
Merlin, 48, had surgery to remove his tumour last year and praised the NHS for’saving his life,’ and he’s now had his one-year colonoscopy check up after getting a good blood test result.
Sharing pictures in a hospital gown, as well as a screenshot reading ‘No cancer seen’, Merlin wrote: ‘Scroll across… 1 year colonoscopy check up for #bowelcancer.
‘Prep was soo difficult this time.
‘Soiled the bed several times overnight, resorted to adult nappies, got about 2 hours kip. Felt like hell.

‘First one with my newly connected a**e too (sans rectum), so I was a little nervous.’
Merlin continued: ‘But along with my last blood tests (clear), at one year examination, we’re clear!
‘Phew. ‘Next one at 3 years (2025). Last one at 5 years (2027). 🤞🤞🤞

‘Love to all you fellow bowel cancer peeps, keep on keeping on!’
First Dates co-star Fred Sirieix commented with a heart, having earlier saying that Merlin is a “inspiration.”
Speaking about Merlin’s attitude throughout his health battles, Fred continued: ‘He is amazing. Merlin is very philosophical, very stoic, very positive man, and every time I call him or see him, he’s got some funny stories to tell me to make me laugh.
‘He’s a good man, a very good man.’
