Matt Hancock must be a glutton for torture, since after winning I’m A Celebrity, he’s now competing in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.
The disgraced former Health Secretary, 44, resigned from Boris Johnson’s cabinet after kissing a colleague in government offices, in violation of Covid social distance guidelines.
He was met with mixed reactions after entering the jungle, but he finally made it to the final and finished third behind winner Jill Scott.
Now he’s going on the Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins challenge, which begins on September 26 and takes the celeb aspirants into the jungles of north Vietnam.
And Hancock seemed to be having a difficult time, claiming that he was hit by an ex-Premier League footballer and given an awful moniker.
Branded ‘Matt Handj*b,’ Hancock was put through trials that, as he puts it, ‘p****d [him] off’.
‘They were pretty rude. Calling me names, taking the p**s out of my surname, and god, it p****d me off,’ he told The Sun.
He continued: ‘With all my flaws on the show, when you’re under massive physical strain and you’ve been woken up in the middle of the night, you can’t hide.
‘To make something like this work, you’ve just got to go all in. I went in as a politician and I came out as a human being.’
Hancock also stated that Jermaine Pennant, an ex-Liverpool and Arsenal footballer, hit him in the face during a training session.
‘Jermaine is no softy – [but] it didn’t hurt nearly as much as I expected, being smacked in the face’, he said, thanking adrenaline for lessening the pain.
Despite the fact that he is only now appearing on Celebrity SAS, he taped his segment in the autumn of 2022, almost a year before entering the jungle.
Hancock was spotted dancing topless with fellow Celebrity SAS participant Gareth Gates, Michelle Heaton, and Siva Kaneswaran last week.
Watch Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins on Channel 4 from September 26.
