Ashley James has confessed that she used a breast pump throughout the production of Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4 and no one noticed.
In images uploaded on her Instagram Story, the former Made In Chelsea star said that she’d had a’stressful day’ behind the scenes while caring for her baby Ada, who was born in March of this year.
The 36-year-old captioned a photo of herself breastfeeding her kid while sitting in the hair and makeup chair, ‘Guys! What a stressful day behind the scenes! Can you see how red and engorged my boob is here as I desperately tried to feed Ada whilst getting my hair and makeup done.’
Ashley revealed in later tweets that she used an Elvie breast pump while appearing on the live TV broadcast, which her ‘wonderful agent’ Amy raced out and got for her from the store.
‘I’ve only ever used Elvie pumps, but first time using the Elvie Stride and can you believe it – I actually pumped the whole way through live TV and no one noticed!’ she said.
The dating and empowerment coach uploaded a photo of her reflection in the mirror while holding Ada, with her top pulled down so her followers could see her breast pump, which ‘otherwise you would hardly know was there’.
‘I honestly can’t believe how good and comfortable it was whilst being so so quiet that even the microphone didn’t pick it up!’ she remarked.
‘Only Steph and the producers knew and were so kind and supportive when I don’t even know if they knew how stressed I was!’
Ashley confirmed to her admirers that she is an Elvie ambassador, labelling a few of her postings as ‘advertising’ as a result of her position.
She said in an Instagram post that she woke up with’very engorged boobs’ that were’red and extremely aching’.
‘I was panicking – especially given I was going to be away from Ada from a couple of hours. I already panic she might need to feed whilst I’m on TV!’ Ashley wrote in her caption.
‘My agent Amy ran out and got me an Elvie because I’ve always used their pumps and love how discreet they are – and she came back with an Elvie Stride!! Omg it was amazing. I pumped the entire way through the show, massaging my red hot lumps in the break! And no one noticed! Apart from the producers and Steph who kept checking I was ok!’
She also recalled nursing her now two-year-old son Alfie live on TV when he was a smaller baby in the video she published on Instagram.
Ashley noted how ‘glad’ she was to have been allowed to pump while on live TV because ‘breastfeeding mothers should be free to proudly pump or nurse their kid without compromise’.
Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays from 12pm on Channel 4.
